(7/30/2015) - Signature Theatre recently announced a one-week extension for John, written by Pulitzer Prize winner-Annie Baker (The Flick) and directed by Tony Award-winner Sam Gold (Fun Home). The production, which kicks off Signature's 25th Anniversary Season, will now play through Sunday, September 6. John began performances last Wednesday, July 22, and opens Tuesday, August 11 in The Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues).

This year's tour has over 22 performances stops (and growing) of brand new productions of 'Romeo and Juliet' and 'A Midsummer Night's Dream' throughout the Greater Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky area at local community parks and venues. These performances are FREE and open to the public. The cast features six actors from CSC Resident Ensemble. Following the Park Tour, these shows will travel and tour to local schools, community centers, venues and other performing arts locations through May 2016. Performances will run from July 29th - August 8th with evening performances at 7:30 PM. Matinees are available on July 31st, 4th, and 5th at 2:00 PM. (7/29/2015) - Urinetown: The Musical! The Tony-award-winning hit from 2001, will be performed by The Penny Seats Theatre Company July 30, 31, Aug 1, 6, 7, 8, 13, 14, and 15 (all shows at 7 pm). Set in an admittedly absurd dystopian future where one must pay to pee, the show lampoons corporate bureaucracy, pie-in-the-sky optimism, revolution without a plan, and the musical theatre genre itself. With a full pit orchestra (led by Richard Alder) on the band shell stage, the action takes place around the audience in the park. Just the idea of these ancient stories of Gods and humans interacting, causing problems, and in turn teaching life lessons has always intrigued me. So when I heard a solo show called SISYPHUS was coming to town for just three performances at Theatre 40, I knew I had to see it. And what an excellent piece of performance art it is!
