(10/24/2014) - The Olivier Award-winning production of Mike Kenny's stage adaptation of E. Nesbit's novel The Railway Children will be returning to London on 16 December 2014, but moving to a new home, the King's Cross Theatre, where a purpose built 1,000-seat theatre, complete with a railway track and platforms, and with a state of the art heating system, will be specially created. The site, on King's Boulevard, behind King's Cross Station, has been loaned to the production for the duration of the run by Google, who own the land. The York Theatre Royal production, which is in association with the National Railway Museum, will once again feature a live 60-tonne steam locomotive and Gentleman's Carriage. The Railway Children, which previews from 16 December, with a press night on 14 January, is booking until 1 March 2015. Open auditions for children aged between 9 and 13 to star in the children's ensemble were held on Saturday 18 October at Jacksons Lane Arts Centre, and BroadwayWorld has photos below! (10/24/2014) - KINKY BOOTS is heading to South Korea! This will be the first international production of the Tony-winning musical. (10/24/2014) - The Hangar's Acting Out on the Hangar Stage, Community Charades Challenge took place on Saturday, October 18. With the support of the community - through donations to four teams of participants, the purchase of auction items, and ticket sales - the Hangar was able to reach its fundraising goal for the event, which supports the theatre's educational programming, raising a total of $26,000. (10/24/2014) - Later tonight, The New York Pops - a symphonic orchestra known for presenting popular programs of exceptional quality - will launch its 32nd season at Carnegie Hall's Stern Auditorium/Perelman Stage with All You Need is Love: The Music of The Beatles. Music Director Steven Reineke - described by The New York Times as a 'polished, welcoming host' who is 'young and vigorous, with a playful attitude' - will lead the orchestra in an opening night celebration of The Beatles' greatest hits recreated by the acclaimed Finnish vocal ensemble Rajaton. The concert will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fab Four's arrival in America. Concertgoers can expect to hear fresh renditions of Beatles songs including 'Lucy in the Sky with Diamonds,' 'Yesterday,' 'She Loves You,' and 'Let It Be,' among others. (10/24/2014) - Opening night is Monday, November 3rd at 8:00 pm for the Lincoln Center Theater production of THE OLDEST BOY, a new play by Sarah Ruhl and directed by Rebecca Taichman. The cast features Ernest Abuba, Tsering Dorjee, Celia Keenan-Bolger, Takemi Kitamura, James Saito, Jon Norman Schneider, James Yaegashi and Nami Yamamoto. (10/24/2014) - Actor and singer Dominic Chianese, known mostly for his starring role as Corrado "Junior" Soprano in HBO's The Sopranos, and for his role as Johnny Ola in The Godfather II, makes his 54 Below tonight, October 24. Dominic has lived in New York City all his life, and worked in theatre- Broadway (The Rose Tattoo, Requiem for a Heavyweight), Off Broadway (Still Life, Much Ado About Nothing at the Delacorte) and in regional theatres all over the country. Since 1952 when he toured with the America Savoyards Gilbert and Sullivan company, Dominic has been regaling with song as well. (Not many folks know that Junior from The Sopranos made his Broadway debut in Oliver!) Dominic will be sharing "Neapolitan Songs Grandfather Taught Me" a selection of classic songs of Naples, including Dicitenciello Vuie, O Sole Mio, Marechiare, A Vucchella, and more. This one seems to be one that actors hold very near and dear to their hearts. Some people are into the superstition and it's bad luck to say the title, but to me, it's just a frickin' word. It's funny to me.

(10/24/2014) - THE HEIRESS, Ruth and Augustus Goetz's 1947 adaptation of Henry James' WASHINGTON SQUARE and currently occupying the Lohrey Stage at Theatre Memphis, has had a long and steady run on stages throughout the world - and why not? Tightly corseted, polite to a fault, and observing proprieties, this intelligently written script captures the essence of the James source material without the convoluted, complex sentences that, alas, repel many readers. As tautly drawn as the material on one of the samplers for which its heroine is noted, when one of the characters punctuates the prevailing politeness with a barbed or telling line of dialogue, it's as if a sharp and jagged blade suddenly ripped through the fabric of the needlework itself. All this play needs for a successful run is a handsome set, period costumes - and four or five gifted players.
