Review: BBC PROMS AND THE ENO at Printworks London
by Alexander Cohen - September 04, 2022
The Proms, Printworks, and multimedia mayhem. Created and co-produced by award winning counter tenor Anthony Roth Costanzo, Philip Glass's meditative Minimalism and Handel's Baroque elegance crash together in a cacophony of artistic media.
Review: LARKIN WITH WOMEN, Old Red Lion Theatre
by Gary Naylor - September 03, 2022
There's more to Larkin's life than we see here, but, nevertheless, it's a lovely play that does full justice to the three women with whom he spent much of his life
Review: HORSE-PLAY at Riverside Studios
by Cheryl Markosky - September 02, 2022
What did our critic think of HORSE-PLAY at Riverside Studios? Well, you could stick to bland Date Night ideas, like going to the cinema or a gastropub meal for two. Or you could be more daring, like Tom and Tim. After a decade of marriage, the married gay couple decide to spend an evening with a hunky male escort in a sex dungeon. What could possibly go wrong?

Review: BLUEBEARD'S CASTLE, Grimeborn Festival, Arcola Theatre
by Gary Naylor - September 02, 2022
Fascinating one act opera performed by technically very strong singers and musicians, but let down a little by a lack of clarity in its narrative exposition
Review: I, JOAN at Shakespeare's Globe
by Paige Cochrane - September 02, 2022
Joan of Arc has long been a symbol of female empowerment. Her ascent to patron saint of France is often described as a tale of gender non-conforming rebellion for women to aspire to. Shakespeare's Globe and writer Charlie Josephine (they/he) have dismantled this depiction of womanhood, redefining Joan's experiences through the lens of trans existence. In I, Joan, the protagonist traverses the same war and faith we as an audience are accustomed to, whilst also advocating for and navigating their nonbinary identity.

by Guest Blog: Ben Glasstone - September 02, 2022
Puppets are for kids, right? Well, in one sense, yes. Because kids have intense and untamed imaginations.  When they see a painted piece of polystyrene talk and fly (and sing) they are utterly transported.  We grown-ups less so.

Review: A DIFFERENT STAGE, Duke Of York's Theatre
by Cindy Marcolina - September 02, 2022
A Different Stage contextualises the Gary Barlow the tabloids know, giving him the chance to be at the forefront of his own version of the story whilst reconfirming him as an exceptional entertainer. Sure, it’s biased and obviously made to make him look good, but it’s heartfelt and authentic. Mostly, it’s a bloody great show that will appease the superfans and mellow the sceptics.

Review: HORIZONS - A 21ST CENTURY SPACE ODYSSEY, O2 Arena

A few years ago, the concept of a scientist selling out arenas across the world simply wouldn’t compute, but the Professor Brian Cox Effect continues to work its magic. He and Robin Ince are back with a brand new tour that seeks to answer the following question: “What does it mean to live a small, finite life in an infinite, eternal Universe?” Over the course of a couple of hours, the audience is taken on a whistlestop tour of cutting-edge physics, exploring the observable universe and attempting to make sense of black holes with the assistance of a stunning array of images.

by Guest Blog: Lynsey Beauchamp - September 01, 2022
I had the great privilege of playing Sister Brigitta in the premiere of The Two Popes three years ago. Strikingly, the issues discussed in the play have only become more relevant in the last three years.
Review: THE NARCISSIST, Chichester Festival Theatre
by Gary Naylor - September 01, 2022
Christopher Shinn's play brims with interesting politics but is too often bogged down in overly-familiar personal issues
