The Yorkshire Evening Post reports that Michael Crawford has opened the brand new Eckersley House at Leeds General Infirmary. The Eckersley House is described as a 'home from home for parents of youngsters in hospital,' and the Sick Children's Trust, for which Crawford serves as president, fundraised £1.5 million for the completion of the building. Dans der Vampieren, an adaptation of TANZ DER VAMPIRE which was to open in Belgium, has been delayed. Reports are that multiple production companies in Belgium oppose the show being given a ?2.5 million government grant, and have asked for that support to be suspended. The Rock Tenor makes its debut this summer beginning July 8, starring vocalist Rob Evan (Broadway performer and lead singer for the multi-platinum band The Trans-Siberian Orchestra), who conceived the show with director Vincent Marini (former Producing Artistic Director of New Jersey's Lenape Regional Performing Arts Center) officially opens July 15 and closes August 23. The Rock Tenor fuses rock and roll anthems, Broadway classics, opera favorites, country rhythms and classical melodies in a unique performance that showcases these familiar works in a whole new light. 'Wall-E' was a winner yesterday evening, Saturday, February 21st at the 56th annual Motion Picture Sound Editors Golden Reel Awards. The film won for best animated feature category, Ben Burtt the man who gave 'voice' to R2D2 and Chewbacca accepted the award for his sound effect work on the film. (more...)
