STAGES St. Louis unveiled their stellar ensemble cast for its upcoming production of Steel Magnolias. The cast includes Amy Loui (M'Lynn), Taylor Quick (Shelby), Jilanne Marie Klaus (Truvy), Abigail Isom (Annelle), Zoe Vonder Haar (Ouiser), Kari Ely (Clairee) Lari White (Standby), Lexy Witcher (Standby), and Meme Wolff (Standby). This beloved story, known for its memorable characters and heartfelt message, will grace the stage from May 31 – June 30 in The Ross Family Theatre at the Kirkwood Performing Arts Center. 

Juke box musicals are stage theatrical presentations in which a majority of the compositions were written before the presentation was conceived, rather than being original music conceived for that show.  They tend to be long on songs and short on a well-conceived plot.

Ink by James Graham will make its Sydney premiere in May. Performances run 28 May - 29 June 2024.

There is musical theatre magic happening on stage now through May 19th at the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden, Florida via ALWAYS…PATSY CLINE, a fan favorite musical tribute to one of the most iconic voices in country music. This latest production is a heartwarming, and toe-tapping look at the life and career of Patsy Cline through the eyes of one of her biggest fans – and takes the audience on an exciting trip back in time filled with beloved songs and a fascinating and highly entertaining story.

The Segal Centre for Performing Arts will present the Canadian Premiere of POTUS Or Behind Every Great Dumbass Are Seven Women Trying to Keep Him Alive, an outrageous comedy by Selina Fillinger and directed by Segal Centre Artistic and Executive Director Lisa Rubin. The production will take center stage at the Sylvan Adams Theatre from May 12 to June 2, 2024.

Tina Turner’s name evokes an instant reaction. Those four simple syllables have a unique weight and impact to them because she was such a tour de force. Yet behind the powerhouse and beyond the glittering lights, Tina Turner had a past. A past that included a mother-daughter relationship that was fraught with trials. But Tina’s mother, Zelma, has a story all her own that shows a human being fighting to deal with the cards life dealt her. We listened and learned more from Roz White who plays Zelma in TINA: THE TINA TURNER MUSICAL. She gave us an impassioned interview about her character and the depths of the woman she was.

Lightning Bug has shared their third and final single “Lullaby for Love”, from their forthcoming album No Paradise, out next week. For its 14th summer, Rhinebeck Writers Retreat is hosting 24 award-winning musical theatre writers of nine new musicals for nine consecutive weeklong residencies between June 23 and August 25. Each writing team will live in a private home in the Hudson Valley for one week to focus solely on writing their musical.
