Hudson River Park has announced the lineup for its inaugural Broadway By The Boardwalk series, featuring free performances by Broadway artists for the public to enjoy on summer evenings in an intimate park setting.

Robyn Hitchcock is set to release 1967: Vacations In The Past, an acoustic musical companion to his critically acclaimed new memoir. A 12-track collection comprising all-new versions of songs from and inspired by that epochal year, 1967: Vacations In The Past is heralded by the premiere of Hitchcock’s rendition of Small Faces’ classic “Itchycoo Park.' Two new shows have been added to the 2024 concert season at After Hours Concert Series. KC and The Sunshine Band on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at Atlantic Union Bank After Hours at the SERVPRO Pavilion in Doswell, Virginia and Clint Black on Thursday October 3, 2024 at SERVPRO of Chesterfield After Hours at the River City Sportsplex in Midlothian, Virginia.

Between 1959 and 1972 – with the full Cleveland Orchestra, the somewhat smaller Cleveland Pops and the chamber-sized Cleveland Sinfonietta – Louis Lane made a series of critically acclaimed recordings for Columbia. They display the “exceptional breadth and impeccable taste” for which this gifted but perennially undervalued conductor was lauded in a tribute by the orchestra’s executive director. 

Stephen Sondheim’s Sunday in the Park with George opened at Santa Fe Playhouse on Saturday and all I can say is wow. The 1984 musical features music and lyrics by Sondheim and book by James Lapin.  Inspired by the French pointillist  painter Georges Seurat’s painting, A Sunday Afternoon on the Island of La Grande Jatte, the plot revolves around George (deftly played by Playhouse regular David Stallings), who immerses himself deeply in painting his masterpiece, and his great-grandson (also named George, also played by Stallings), a conflicted and cynical contemporary artist.

The legendary multi-platinum-selling band AMERICA is set to release a new live album, America – Live From The Hollywood Bowl 1975, on September 6, 2024. Previously available as a Record Store day exclusive, this album featuring never-before-heard recordings of their iconic 1975 performance backed by a symphony conducted by the legendary George Martin, will now be widely released on CD, a new red vinyl variant, and digitally for the first time ever.
