Today’s subject Jennifer Tipton has been a lighting designer for theatre, opera, ballet, and more for over 65 years and in the process has given us a body of work that is unparalleled. The collected work by the prominent theater photographers was acquired in 2018. It represents one of the largest digital acquisition of photography ever made by the Library.

Her list of achievements includes being directed by Bob Fosse and Jerome Robbins, directing Cat on a Hot Tin Roof on Broadway, choreographing the Oscars, being an executive producer and actress on the long running Grey’s Anatomy, and running a dance academy that bears her name.
