EARNEST In Pasadena Is A Smashing Success! Show To Reprise In Late May

THE LITTLE MERMAID Offers A Fun, Family-Friendly Disney Musical At CSUF

???????The Broadway blockbuster, "Disney's The Little Mermaid," opens March 23 for Orange County audiences with family-friendly ticket prices ranging from $22-24. The Disney hit features music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman and Glenn Slater and book by Doug Wright. The production is directed by Eve Himmelheber with choreography by Karl Warden and musical direction by Corey Hirsch, and runs March 23-April 15, 2018 in the Little Theatre on campus. Mermaid princess Ariel is fascinated by the world and lives of people on land and longs to join them. However, her father, King Triton, forbids contact. California School of the Arts - San Gabriel Valley (CSArts-SGV) continues its partnership with the Sierra Madre Playhouse as the school's Acting Conservatory students head back to the theater for "The Importance of Being Earnest," their third play of the school year (previously "The Yellow Boat" and "Elephant's Graveyard"). Together with a cast of students from grades nine through 11, the Victorian-inspired set and costuming takes the audience back to turn of the 19th century. This lighthearted play, written by Oscar Wilde, is a classic satirical dramedy that highlights the humor found in an unlikely, outrageous situation. (more...)

Theatre Royal Bath today announces the opening productions for its summer season 2018 across the Ustinov Studio and Main House. Launching at the Ustinov Studio will be the highly acclaimed, Bristol based theatre company, Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory with their new production of Henry V directed by Elizabeth Freestone. Oscar Wilde's An Ideal Husband will transfer to Theatre Royal Bath's Main House direct from the West End, marking the first production in Jonathan Church's 2018 summer season. The Old Globe Elects New Board Members for New Fiscal Year

The Old Globe's Annual Meeting was held on Monday, February 5 on the Donald and Darlene Shiley Stage in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Conrad Prebys Theatre Center. After a reception on Copley Plaza, Old Globe Board Chair Vicki L. Zeiger welcomed the members of The Old Globe, Board of Directors, and guests and announced the newly elected Directors serving three-year terms. Globe senior staff members presented highlights of the 2017 fiscal year, and Erna Finci Viterbi Artistic Director Barry Edelstein and Managing Director Timothy J. Shields spoke about the future of the Globe and its place in the San Diego community. The meeting was followed by a dessert reception catered by The Prado Restaurant for the Board of Directors, Ambassadors, and Founders-Level Donors on Copley Plaza. (more...)

Legendary ballet costume designer HOLLY HYNES and costume and scenic designer ZACK BROWN are among the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Award recipients which were just announced by TDF, the not-for-profit service organization for the performing arts. Ms. Hynes was selected to receive the 2018 TDF/Irene Sharaff Lifetime Achievement Award for costume design and Mr. Brown will receive the Robert L. B. Tobin Award for Sustained Excellence in Theatrical Design. The awards are presented through TDF's Costume Collection. BWW Review: TWELFTH NIGHT, OR WHAT YOU WILL at Burbage Theatre

The Burbage Theatre continues its inaugural season in its new home at 249 Roosevelt Ave. in Pawtucket with a raucous production of Shakespeare's TWELFTH NIIGHT, OR WHAT YOU WILL. Harold Bloom has called TWELFTH NIGHT 'the funniest of all Shakespeare's plays.' While I'm not sure Bloom is a reliable guide to comedy, the mostly youthful Burbage cast has managed to fully mine the humor in this piece. 'We're eager to bring (TWELFTH NIGHT) to life, and we've got the team to do it,' said director Jeff Church, who is also Artistic Director at the Burbage. (more...)
