Bustling with gamblers, gangsters, and sassy showgirls, GUYS AND DOLLS celebrates Broadway's golden era with one of the greatest scores ever written for a musical by the legendary Frank Loesser, a masterfully witty book and lyrics by Joe Swerling and comedy legend Abe Burrows, and the glorious Damon Runyon's comic book world of 1940s Times Square New York City.



GUYS AND DOLLS originally conquered Broadway in 1951 as the winner of 5 Tony Awards including Best Musical and again in 1992 with 4 Tony Awards including Best Revival of a Musical. The New York Times calls it "The show that defines Broadway dazzle!" A movie version ofGUYS AND DOLLS was released in 1953 starring Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.

Casting representatives from all three productions will hold open auditions for local performers in Chicago November 9-11, 2018 at Hubbard Street Dance Chicago; Honolulu January 19, 2019 (location TBA); and Los Angeles February 15-17, 2019 at Downtown Dance and Movement. Theatre Royal Bath today announces A Season of UK Premieres from the Americas at the Ustinov Studio opening next month. The Model Apartment by Pulitzer Prize winner Donald Margulies, directed by Laurence Boswell will run from 22 November to 22 December with opening night for press on 28 November. This will be followed by Tanya Barfield's play with music, Blue Door, directed by Eleanor Rhode from 7 February to 9 March 2019, and a third production, to be announced, will complete the season. For three performances only, renowned director/choreographer Stephen Mear has brought his own semi-staged version of the classic musical Guys and Dolls to the Royal Albert Hall. The Royal Philharmonic Concert orchestra bring Frank Loesser's much-loved score to life, along with a cast that includes Adrian Lester (Sky Masterson), Lara Pulver (Sarah Brown), Meow Meow (Miss Adelaide), Jason Manford (Nathan Detroit), Clive Rowe (Nicely Nicely Johnson), Joe Stilgoe (Benny Southstreet), and Sharon D Clarke (General Cartwright). Whilst they're not presenting the entire show, all of the musical numbers are intact and any gaps in the story are covered by narrator Stephen Mangan. (more...)

Moonlight Presents offers two holiday events in December at the Moonlight Amphitheatre. Sponsored by Dr. Bronner's, the shows include the Doo Wop Project Christmas, featuring stars of Broadway's "Jersey Boys" and "Motown: the Musical," on Sat., Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m. Amongst the singers is San Diego native Charl Brown who began his musical theatre journey as a student at the San Diego School of Creative and Performing Arts. Set in Hollywood 1950, this witty comedy-drama reveals what goes on behind closed doors when a world-famous writer, his actress wife and his longtime "secretary" arrive from England, only to have their comfortable household disrupted by the arrival of a handsome young priest and a film producer with a secret of his own. Add a malicious young blackmailer, and this glimpse into how Hollywood dealt with private lives is by turns darkly funny and emotionally powerful.
