John Bishop's play The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 premiered at the Circle Repertory Company in New York in 1987 before opening on Broadway later that year. This ensemble play is the perfect lead-in to the Halloween season, featuring mistaken identities, secret passageways, murder, and lots of laughs. You can catch The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 at Gettysburg Community Theatre in person October 8-17 and virtually on demand October 22-24. Bergen County Players, one of America's longest-running little theater companies, will kick off its new Second Stage season with a limited engagement of Ernest Thompson's ANSWERS, a duo of hilarious one-act comedies. Under the direction of Matthew Blum, ANSWERS will run November 9th and 10th at the Little Firehouse Theatre in Oradell. Show times will be Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 7pm. BWW Review: THE MUSICAL COMEDY MURDERS OF 1940 at Mad Cap Comedy And Improv Troupe by Craig Richardson - Nov 25, 2019

On October 24th through the 27th, MADCAP Comedy and Improv Troupe presented the John Bishop farce The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 at Newman University's Jabara Flexible Theatre. Under executive artistic director Cameron Carlson and wife Lana, the show was a night of pre-war, German societal commentary and comedy amid a mysterious murder mystery in a Chappaqua, New York City mansion setting. Starring Vonda Newby-Schuster, Mark Barlow, Mary Lou Phipps-Winfrey, Crystal Meek, and Steve Dunn among many others, the show was a perfect selection for tying into their previous show Hounds of Baskerville and for what was Halloween weekend in Wichita.
