Special Engagement Show Announced for KISS AND TELL at Hale Theatre

Hale Centre Theatre in Gilbert presents the hit Romantic Comedy Kiss and Tell. Playing Monday and Tuesday nights from September 12th through November 14th. This hilarious Broadway and Hollywood smash, features a family feud that begins when two teenage best friends, Corliss and Mildred, come up with a scheme to sell kisses at a USO bazaar. Endearing love plots and madcap mistaken identities evolve from there, including the secret marriage of Mildred to a young Air Force officer and a prospective visit from the stork. Their bickering parents precipitate more problems than they're able to solve, including a lawsuit and countersuit.   (more...)

The New York premieres and world premiere production of Gordon Getty's "Scare Pair," a double-bill by the San Francisco-based composer, pairs his two one act-operas -- Usher House and The Canterville Ghost -- together for the first time on October 19 and 21 (7:30pm) at The Sylvia and Danny Kaye Playhouse at Hunter College (located at East 68th Street, between Lexington and Park Avenues).  Both works, with the libretto and music by Mr. Getty, will be sung in English and have a running time of 60 minutes each. In October, New Conservatory Theatre Center welcomes the return of the plays of Philip Dawkins with the regional premiere of Le Switch, directed by Tom Bruett. Following the success of NCTC's production of Dawkin's play The Homosexuals in its 2013-14 Season, NCTC brings the play that has been hailed by Chicago Tribune as "another significant play from one of the Chicago's theater's brightest talents." Le Switch follows David, a self-possessed New York librarian with a need for classification, a love for collecting rare books he never opens and a strong ambivalence about marriage. I am not the biggest fan of Adam Sandler, or at least the movies he manufactures for himself and his buddies, but I have always liked The Wedding Singer, one of his first, most endearing films. The story of Robbie Hart (Remy Sisk), a cheesy but sincere front man for a wedding band in the late 1980's, is a logical selection for adaptation into a stage musical, and provides ample opportunity for satire of social trends in fashion.
