David Krumholtz

David Krumholtz began his acting career on Broadway at age 13, appearing as Young Charlie in Conversations with My Father in 1992. He made his feature film debut the following year in Life With Mikey (1993), starring opposite Michael J. Fox, and also appeared in Addams Family Values (1993). He later played Bernard, the head elf, in The Santa Clause (1994) and reprised the role in The Santa Clause 2 (2002). In television, Krumholtz made his series debut in Monty (1994), starring alongside Henry Winkler.

Krumholtz continued working in television throughout the 1990s, appearing in Chicago Sons (1997), The Closer (1998), and guest roles on ER, Law & Order, Law & Order: SVU, Lucky, Freaks and Geeks, and Undeclared. His film credits during the decade included The Ice Storm (1997), directed by Ang Lee, Slums of Beverly Hills (1998), 10 Things I Hate About You (1999), and Liberty Heights (1999), in which he played Yussel.

In 2001, Krumholtz appeared in Edward Burns' independent film Sidewalks of New York. He took on leading roles in You Stupid Man (2002), opposite Milla Jovovich, and the television film Big Shot: Confessions of a Campus Bookie (2002), in which he portrayed Benny Silman. He also reprised his role as Bernard in The Santa Clause 2 (2002) and appeared in The Lyon's Den (2003). His film credits included Kill the Poor (2003), Ray (2004), Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (2004), and Serenity (2005), in which he played Mr. Universe. He also appeared in the sequels to Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle.

From 2005 to 2010, Krumholtz starred as mathematician Charlie Eppes on the CBS series Numb3rs. During this period, he also appeared in the film My Suicidal Sweetheart (2005) and the television pilot Tax Man (2010). In 2011, he starred as one of the leads in the NBC series The Playboy Club, which was canceled after three episodes.

Krumholtz starred opposite Michael Urie in the CBS comedy series Partners in 2012. In 2013, he appeared in This Is the End, followed by The Judge (2014). He created, co-wrote and starred in the IFC comedy series Gigi Does It (2015), portraying the title character. His subsequent film credits included Hail, Caesar! (2016), Sausage Party (2016), Wonder Wheel (2017), and The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (2018).

Krumholtz had a recurring role as Harvey Wasserman in the first two seasons of the HBO drama series The Deuce before becoming a series regular for its third season. In 2020, he starred as Monty Levin in the HBO miniseries The Plot Against America.

In 2022, Krumholtz returned to Broadway as Hermann Merz in the original Broadway cast of Tom Stoppard's Leopoldstadt at the Longacre Theatre. The performance earned him a Drama League Award nomination for Outstanding Performance. In 2023, he portrayed physicist Isidor Isaac Rabi in Christopher Nolan's biographical drama Oppenheimer. In 2026, he played Zor-El in the film Supergirl. That same year, Krumholtz announced a hiatus from acting.
