Review: THE PIANIST, Park Theatre
by Cindy Marcolina - Oct 23, 2026
While both the film and the autobiography have entered our cultural heritage as testimonies of the Nazi era – the poverty it brought, its violence, its misery – this new rendition inhabits a different realm. Thom Southerland debuts Szpilman’s own compositions in an invariably morose piece of theatre that never finds its pace nor purpose. A team of actor-musicians revives Szpilman’s story, but this version of The Pianist struggles to securely grip the audience. Sutherland centralises the creative process, adapting and directing Szpilman’s book; this type of clustering is risky, and it doesn’t pay off on this occasion.
When Broadway Finance Becomes Public Record: How SEC Filings Reveal Multi-Million-Dollar Fundraising Moves
by Carli Freeman - Sep 12, 2026
If you’re looking to dig deeper into Broadway gossip, why not check some federal financial databases? Producers usually like to keep their private fundraising out of the spotlight. But why are multi-million-dollar Broadway productions making financial data freely accessible to the public? And what information are producers sharing with (or obscuring from) the public under mysterious, theatre-lyric-themed LLC names?
Interview: 'It's definitely not an easy process, but it has been great and beautiful' Daniel Krikler on THE PIANIST
by Kat Mokrynski - Sep 8, 2026
After a run at Mayflower Studios Southampton this month, Thom Southerland’s adaptation of Wladyslaw Szpilman’s memoir, The Piano, is coming to the Park Theatre in London. The show brings Szpilman’s true story to the stage, accompanied by the musician’s own music. Recently, we had the chance to speak with Daniel Krikler, who plays Wladyslaw Szpilman in The Pianist. We discussed how he prepared to take on the role of Szpilman, what it has been like participating in a show with actor-musicians and even why he wants to erase the labels of plays and musicals.
