Brian Gale Named Vice President And Managing Director Of Booking/Show Marketing At The Boch Center

The Boch Center, one of the nation's leading nonprofit performing arts institutions, announced today the appointment of Brian Gale as Vice President & Managing Director of Booking/Show Marketing. Mr. Gale has an accomplished background in live entertainment, with more than 25 years' experience on the venue, promoter, booking and marketing side of the entertainment industry. As part of the senior management team, Brian will be responsible for securing new music, comedy, dance, and variety artists and family shows at the Wang and Shubert Theatres, geared towards expanding the Center's current offerings.

Brandi Carlile makes her Tanglewood debut with a performance at the Koussevitzky Music Shed. Carlile is currently on tour following the release of her 2019 Grammy-winning album, By the Way, I Forgive You. Produced by Dave Cobb and Shooter Jennings and recorded at Nashville's historic RCA Studio A, the album includes ten new songs written by Carlile and longtime collaborators and bandmates Tim and Phil Hanseroth, including 'The Joke.' Of her performance of the song on the live Grammy broadcast, The New York Times wrote, 'Carlile's vocals were robust, ragged, full of sneer and hopea?? it was an uncomplicated, genuine, cleansing thrill.' Tickets for this concert range from $18a?"$149.

In 2018, the U.S. Supreme Court handed a narrow victory to a Christian baker from Colorado who refused for religious reasons to make a wedding cake for a gay couple. Hailing from a conservative North Carolina background, playwright Bekah Brunstetter is personally familiar with people like Della, the protagonist of THE CAKE, and ideally positioned to protect her and defend her humanity, while also setting her on a path to self-reflection and change. Although the story may be ripped from the headlines, Brunstetter tells it from the perspectives of a quartet of ordinary, yet multi-faceted characters, each of whom comes with a strong set of beliefs.

A solo drama, Oaks of Mamre: A Retelling of an Ancient Story, is an original production presented by Sr. Danielle Dwyer, Artistic Director of Elements Theatre Company, and is part of the Sacred Drama Series Exploring Transfigured Lives. This gutsy story will be enhanced by originally composed music, as well as a massive set featuring a big Oak tree over twenty feet tall.

If you like your coming-of-age-on-the-mean-streets stories served with an extra side of red sauce, then Chazz Palminteri's semi-autobiographical A BRONX TALE is for you. Featuring characters with names like Rudy the Voice, Eddie Mush, Jojo the Whale and Frankie Coffeecake, this musical adaptation of Palminteri's acclaimed movie, later made into a one-man Broadway play in which Palminteri also starred, pits the young Calogero (Trey Murphy) in a tug of war between his upstanding blue collar Dad, Lorenzo (American Idol winner Nick Fradiani), and the flashy mob boss Sonny (Jeff Brooks) whom the newly dubbed a?oeCa?? idolizes.

The Boch Center has been approved for a $35,000 Art Works grant from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) to support its City Spotlights Teen Leadership Programs. Overall, the National Endowment for the Arts has approved 1,187 grants totaling $27.3 million in the first round of fiscal year 2020 funding to support arts projects in every state in the nation, as well as the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.

James Taylor returns to Tanglewood with his All-Star Band for a performance on Saturday, July 4, 2020 at 8 p.m. in the Koussevitzky Music Shed. The July 4 concert will be followed by a spectacular fireworks display over the Stockbridge Bowl in celebration of the Independence Day holiday. Proceeds from this concert will be donated by Kim and James Taylor to Tanglewood Building and Grounds Projects.
