Three decades after directing the Maine premiere of Ken Ludwig’s LEND ME A TENOR, Brian P. Allen, Artistic Director of the Good Theater, now brings to the stage the Maine premiere of Ludwig’s new version of the material.  With gender changes and altered comic thrust,  LEND ME A SOPRANO presents the farcical tale of mistaken identity in the melodramatic world of grand opera with delicious verve.

Good Theater will present the Maine premiere of I'll Eat You Last: A Chat with Sue Mengers, a one-woman play by Tony Award-winning playwright John Logan in August.

After more than two decades as the theater-in-residence at The Hill Arts (formerly St. Lawrence Arts) on Munjoy Hill, Good Theater begins a new chapter with its long-awaited debut at the newly renovated and renamed Stevens Square Theater.

Good Theater will present the world premiere of Lynne McGhee in Killer Comfort, a special theatrical event with three performances only.

The Maine premiere of George Eastman’s HARRY TOWNSEND’s LAST STAND is a sad, sweet, sassy rumination on aging and the fragile communications between father and son as they navigate this daunting process. Despite its poignant and serious underpinnings, Eastman’s play succeeds because of its unsparing humor, uncanny ear for authentic dialogue, the trim direction of Brian P. Allen, and the strong performances of the Good Theater’s stars, Will Rhys and James Noel Hoban.

Good Theater continues its Second Stage series with MURDERERS, the darkly hilarious comedy by Jeffrey Hatcher. The production will run in repertory with the current main stage show, POPCORN FALLS. MURDERERS opens January 11th and plays through February 1st, 2020 at Good Theater's home, the St. Lawrence Arts Center, 76 Congress Street, Portland. Good Theater announces the appointment of Lynne McGhee and Hannah Daly to two new part-time positions for the upcoming 2019/2020 season. Lynne McGhee steps into the position of Development and Special Events Director, and Hannah Daly steps into the position of Public Relations Director. These positions were made possible by a grant from the Davis Family Foundation.

Lynn Ahrens and Stephen Flaherty's very first collaboration, Lucky Stiff is a delightful farce, based on a wild Monte Carlo caper, brimming with silliness and bursting with wacky characters.
