Emmy Rossum

Rossum made her television debut in 1997 as the original Abigail Williams in the daytime soap opera As the World Turns. She later had a guest role as Caroline Beels in Snoops and was nominated for a Young Artist Award in 1999 for her performance in the Disney Channel Original Movie Genius. In 2000, she portrayed a young Audrey Hepburn in the ABC television film The Audrey Hepburn Story.

Rossum made her film debut in 2000 as Deladis Slocumb in Songcatcher. She received an Independent Spirit Award nomination for Best Debut Performance for the role. In 2003, she played the title character in Nola and portrayed Katie Markum in Clint Eastwood's Mystic River. In 2004, she starred as Laura Chapman in The Day After Tomorrow and portrayed Christine Daaé in the film adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber's The Phantom of the Opera. For The Phantom of the Opera, she received a Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy, a Critics' Choice Award for Best Young Actress and a Saturn Award for Best Performance by a Younger Actor.

In 2006, Rossum appeared as Jennifer Ramsey in Wolfgang Petersen's disaster film Poseidon. That same year, she portrayed Juliet Capulet in a Williamstown Theatre Festival production of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. In 2009, she appeared in Dragonball Evolution and the independent film Dare, which was an official selection of the Sundance Film Festival. She also appeared in the 24 Hour Plays in November 2009, performing in Warren Leight's "Daily Bread," directed by Lucie Tiberghien.

In 2009, Rossum joined the cast of the Showtime series Shameless, portraying Fiona Gallagher. She also made her directorial debut with the seventh-season episode "I Am a Storm." Rossum remained with the series for nine seasons and announced her departure in 2018. In 2011, she starred in D. J. Caruso's social film Inside, which was released online in multiple segments across social media platforms.

In 2013, Rossum portrayed Ridley, a siren Caster, in Beautiful Creatures and starred as Bec in the drama You're Not You. She also starred opposite Justin Long in the independent romantic comedy Comet in 2014 and appeared in Before I Disappear the same year. In 2019, she was announced as the star of the Peacock limited series Angelyne, her first lead television role following Shameless.

In 2023, Rossum appeared in the Apple TV+ limited series The Crowded Room, opposite Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried. In 2024, she starred opposite Zoë Winters in an Off-Broadway production of Amy Berryman's Walden, directed by Whitney White at Second Stage Theater's Tony Kiser Theater. In 2026, Rossum starred as an FBI agent investigating a serial killer in the Hulu crime drama series Furious, for which she also serves as an executive producer.
