Alan Tudyk

Alan Tudyk is known for his work in film, television, theater, voice acting and video games. He made his film debut in 1997 in Mark Schwahn’s independent drama 35 Miles from Normal. He appeared as patient Everton in Patch Adams (1998) and played a gay German drug addict in 28 Days (2000). His other early film credits include Wat in A Knight’s Tale (2001), Steve the Pirate in Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story (2004) and Sonny in I, Robot (2004).

Tudyk portrayed Hoban “Wash” Washburne in the television series Firefly (2002). He reprised the role in the feature film Serenity (2005). His film credits also include 3:10 to Yuma (2007), Knocked Up (2007), Death at a Funeral (2007), Tucker & Dale vs. Evil (2010), Transformers: Dark of the Moon (2011), Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012), 42 (2013), Distancing Socially (2021) and Peter Pan & Wendy (2023), in which he played Mr. Darling.

Tudyk made his Broadway debut in Epic Proportions in 1999. His other theater credits include Wonder of the World, The Most Fabulous Story Ever Told, Misalliance, Oedipus and Bunny Bunny. He filled in for Hank Azaria’s roles in Spamalot from June through December 2005 and starred in a limited run of Prelude to a Kiss.

On television, Tudyk appeared in Make Way for Noddy and had guest roles on series including Strangers With Candy, Arrested Development and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. He portrayed Alpha in Joss Whedon’s Dollhouse (2009-2010), appearing as a main antagonist in the first season and returning for guest appearances in the second season. He also appeared in three episodes of V (2009-2010), co-starred as Noah Werner on Suburgatory (2011-2014), and voiced Debbie in The Life & Times of Tim (2011). In 2014, he became the lead anchor on the Adult Swim comedy Newsreaders. He also appeared as Mr. Priest in season two of Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency (2017).

In 2015, Tudyk created, wrote and starred in the web series Con Man. He later joined the main cast of Powerless (2017), portraying Van Wayne. In 2021, he began starring as the lead character in the Syfy television series Resident Alien, which concluded with its fourth season.

Tudyk has an extensive voice acting career. He provided voice work in Ice Age (2002) and voiced Simone in Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked (2011). He voiced Ludo Avarius and King River Butterfly in Star vs. the Forces of Evil, as well as Green Arrow and Psimon in Young Justice.

Tudyk voiced King Candy/Turbo in Wreck-It Ralph (2012), earning an Annie Award for Voice Acting. His Disney Animation voice credits include the Duke of Weselton in Frozen (2013), Alistair Krei in Big Hero 6 (2014), Duke Weaselton in Zootopia (2016) and Zootopia 2, Heihei in Moana (2016) and Moana 2, KnowsMore in Ralph Breaks the Internet (2018), a guard, a Northuldra leader and an Arendellian soldier in Frozen II (2019), Tuk Tuk in Raya and the Last Dragon (2021), Pico in Encanto (2021), Duffle in Strange World (2022) and Valentino in Wish (2023).

His additional voice and performance credits include K-2SO in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story (2016), Iago in the live-action Aladdin (2019), the Mad Hatter in the short film Once Upon a Studio (2023), and Optimus Prime in the animated series Transformers: EarthSpark. He played Alex Sartorius/Doctor Phosphorus in Creature Commandos (2024) and reprised his role as K-2SO in the second season of Andor (2025).

In video games, Tudyk voiced an unnamed marine in Halo 3 (2007) and the squad’s elite trooper in Halo 3: ODST (2009). He reprised his role as Green Arrow in Injustice: Gods Among Us (2013) and Injustice 2 (2017).
