- February 10, 2020 Victory Hall Opera, in conjunction with UVA's Disability Studies Symposium, will present a one-of-a-kind exploration of Deaf Opera: 'Breaking The Sound Barrier: Deaf Opera Workshop,' featuring scenes from Poulenc's Dialogues of the Carmelites. The performance will take place in Charlottesville at Old Cabell Hall on the campus of The University of Virginia on February 27th at 7pm. Admission is free.

- February 08, 2020 Welcome to the Met, AGRIPPINA: It's about time. Handel and his librettist, Vincent Grimani, knew that certain stories are timeless--like corruption in government--and this one has plenty of twists and turns...and even some belly laughs. It was the perfect piece for an ingenious director, Sir David McVicar, and a spectacular singing actress, mezzo Joyce DiDonato, aided and abetted by conductor Harry Bicket and the Met's perfectly Baroque pit band. The result was an unusual combination for early music: great music and great fun. I suppose that's why it became such a big hit for Handel.

Houston Grand Opera Announces 2020 Concert Of Arias Winners by BWW News Desk
- February 07, 2020 Houston Grand Opera (HGO) announced today the winners of the 32nd annual Eleanor McCollum Competition for Young Singers Concert of Arias, which took place in the Cullen Theater of the Wortham Theater Center. This is the fourth year the Concert of Arias was streamed live on Facebook, and the third for livestreaming on YouTube. The livestream was hosted by HGO Studio alumna Jamie Barton. She is currently performing the title role in La favorite and placed third in the 2007 Concert of Arias. The winners were announced during the second portion of the program.

- February 03, 2020 New Camerata Opera will present the New York fully-staged premiere of Barnum's Bird at (Le) Poisson Rouge, a live music venue located in Greenwich Village. This opera, composed by Libby Larsen with a libretto by Bridget Carpenter, debuted in 2001. It tells the story of famed operatic soprano, Jenny Lind, and her American tour with P.T. Barnum in 1850. Barnum's Bird is also an extraordinary vehicle through which to gain insight into one's own experiences as a lover of art and a consumer of entertainment.
