Nashville Ballet has announced Paul Vasterling’s The Sleeping Beauty is returning to the Tennessee Performing Arts Center’s Jackson Hall on Saturday, February 22 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, February 23 at 2 p.m.  Tickets are on sale now and expected to sell quickly. 

Mention author J. M. Barrie, and the immediate thought is Peter Pan.  Peter Pan, the tale of a boy who refused to grow up, which has become a cottage industry.   Dolls, movies, a musical play, coloring books, cartoons, Halloween costumes, a non-musical play, and books are all available.   There is even a psychological condition, “The Peter Pan Syndrome,” which puts the spotlight on men who refuse to assume responsibility for their boyish actions.

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) sets the stage for the second half of its 63rd season with the playful Peter Pan prequel, Peter and the Starcatcher. Check out photos of the cast in action.

PETER AND THE STARCATCHER is a wonderfully whimsical evening of entertainment for all ages.  Based on Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson’s 2004 novel, this stage adaptation by Rick Elice (Playwright) and Wayne Barker (Music) is given an all-new Australian spin by David Morton (Director and Designer).

ArtsWorks is a program by and for seniors--whether they come with a lifetime of experience or a renewed interest in creative expression--to engage in the performing arts without the pressures of memorization and rigorous rehearsals. But it’s so much more than reading plays. It’s music. It’s movement. It’s an opportunity to expand social connections within the community and to keep those juices flowing—the ones that boost and maintain cognitive skills. It’s joyous.
