What did our critic think of SHREK THE MUSICAL at Chagrin Valley Little Theatre?

Since this column began, I have always made it a point to acknowledge the people that are instrumental when it comes to putting these interviews together. It’s not just me asking an interviewee cold. There is generally a marketing or publicity person that helps to coordinate things.

Get into the holiday spirit with Wendy, Michael, and John as they fly away with Peter Pan and Tickerbell to teach all of Neverland about Christmas. Jules Quintilian’s Peter Pan was confident and exuberant, and of all her song, “Isn’t It Peculiar” was well done. Kristen Demmers’s Tickerbell was sassy and hilarious, and her song “Humbug” with the Pirates was filled with comedic moments. I really enjoyed the Pirate’s “Jolly Christmas.” Pirates singing about Christmas was such blend of themes. Lost Boy’s mash-up of holiday stories in “The Pageant” was really fun to listen to and watch as the Lost Boy’s all seemed to have so much fun as they learned about Christmas.

Vineyard Theatre and The Civilians will extend the world premiere of THE BURNING CAULDRON OF FIERY FIRE for one week, with performances now scheduled through December 7, 2025.

Now presenting an even more over-the-top follow up compared to their first go-round in THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG staged here last February, the La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment revisit the earnestly bumbling folks at the fictional Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society for yet another madcap, mishap-laden production of intense British-style slapstick and comical chaotic shenanigans in its high-flying 2013 'sequel' PETER PAN GOES WRONG which will continue to crack up audiences in the City of La Mirada through November 23, 2025. Amping up the laughs even more this time around, La Mirada's so-good-it-hurts production is this time joined by former Olympic gymnast and longtime 'Peter Pan' herself Cathy Rigby serving as its cheeky 'narrator.'
