BIO
Christopher Denham is a multi-talented actor, writer, and director who has made a name for himself in the entertainment industry. Born in 1976 in Delaware, Denham grew up in Maryland and attended the University of Maryland, where he studied theater and graduated with a degree in English. He then moved to New York City to pursue a career in acting and quickly landed his first role on Broadway.
Denham made his Broadway debut in the 2003 production of "Master Harold and the Boys," which was directed by Lonny Price and starred Danny Glover. In the play, Denham played the role of Hally, a young white boy who befriends two black men in apartheid-era South Africa. The production was a critical success and Denham received rave reviews for his performance.
After his success on Broadway, Denham began to work more in film and television. He appeared in small roles in films such as "Red Doors" and "The Great Raid," but it was his role in the 2008 film "Shutter Island" that really put him on the map. In the Martin Scorsese-directed film, Denham played the role of Peter Breene, a patient at a mental institution who may or may not be involved in a conspiracy.
Denham continued to work in film and television, appearing in shows like "Law & Order: Criminal Intent," "Nurse Jackie," and "The Good Wife." He also wrote and directed his own films, including "Home Movie" and "Preservation." In 2017, he wrote and directed the film "Leverage," which starred Gina Gershon and Danny Glover.
Despite his success in film and television, Denham has never strayed too far from the stage. He has appeared in numerous off-Broadway productions, including "The Lieutenant of Inishmore" and "Red Light Winter." In 2010, he starred in the off-Broadway production of "Copenhagen," which was directed by Michael Blakemore and also starred Blair Brown and Michael Cumpsty.
Denham's most recent work includes a recurring role on the Showtime series "Billions," in which he plays Oliver Dake, a prosecutor who goes after the show's main character, Bobby Axelrod (played by Damian Lewis). He also appeared in the 2019 film "The Bay of Silence," which starred Claes Bang and Olga Kurylenko.
