Montana is a theatre designer from Albuquerque, New Mexico. His grandmother, a lampshade artisan, inspired an early love of fabric, color, and beauty. Montana is a graduate of the Oberlin Conservatory of Music (B.M. Oboe Performance), Oberlin College (B.A. History), Brown University (M.A. Public Humanities), and the Yale School of Drama (M.F.A. Design). Prior to attending Yale, he was the Robert L. Tobin Curatorial Intern at the McNay Art Museum in San Antonio, Texas.

Montana Levi Blanco has been nominated for several awards throughout their career. They were nominated for Best Costume Design of a Play at the Tony Awards for their work on "The Skin of Our Teeth". Blanco also received a nomination for Outstanding Costume Design for a Play at the Drama Desk Awards for "Fefu and Her Friends". Additionally, they received a Special Citation at the Obie Awards for their work on "A Strange Loop". Blanco's achievements also include winning the Sam Norkin Award at the Drama Desk Awards and the Design Award at the Obie Awards for their contributions to "He Brought Her Heart Back in a Box".
