BIO

Jonathan Fisher appeared at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival for the 2022 season. Jonathan comes to Ashland by way of South Florida, Chicago, Rhode Island, and Southern California, and holds a degree in Theatre and English Literature from Northwestern University. You may recognize him from his 11-game winning streak on Jeopardy! in 2021. Some favorite recent theatre credits include: the title role Henry V, Angelo in Measure for Measure and as adapter, co-director and playing Richard of York in Henry VI, Part One (Shakespeare by the Sea); Leontes in A Sad Tale’s Best for Winter (Beating of Wings at A Noise Within); Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead (A Noise Within); Elevada and Tribes (Chance Theater); Macbeth (Sacramento Theatre Company); and Poins in Henry IV, Part One (Shakespeare Orange County). Special thanks to my parents and love to Anna, Milly, Leo, and Clover.

Before the end of the first song, there was thunderous applause at the return of SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED to 54 Below after having been absent, in fact, all of last year. For those of you, like me, who have never been to a SONDHEIM UNPLUGGED show, it is the creation of impresario Phil Geoffrey Bond. It is a simple concept. It is a monthly event at which he gathers a group of guest stars who sing songs by Stephen Sondheim, accompanied only by a piano. The entire evening is hosted and curated by Mr. Bond who also provides tidbits of history and trivia about the songs we are hearing. The series is in its eleventh season. Tonight’s show was number 93.
