It has been reported that Jane Powell, star of numerous Golden Age Hollywood musicals, passed away this afternoon at her home in Wilton, CT. She was 92 years old. 

Peter Benjamin Foley died at home on August 27, 2021, after surviving ocular (uveal) melanoma, a rare cancer, for more than 10 years. He was 54.

ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old. 

Legendary actor, activist and philanthropist Ed Asner passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, surrounded by family at 91.

With the long-running Don’t Bother Me, I Can’t Cope, in which she also starred, she became the first woman to win a Grammy Award for the score of a Broadway musical. She also received Tony nominations for book, music, and lyrics. Another Grammy nomination for the score (with Alex Bradford) of Your Arms Too Short to Box with God followed, as well as another Tony nomination for the score of Working.

Thom Schilling, the general manager, production supervisor and stage manager for dozens of Broadway, Off-Broadway and global tours for over 40 years, died in his sleep on August 19 in New York City. The cause of death is not presently known. Born in 1956, Thom was 64 years old.

Withers was best known for her time as a child star in the 1930s and 1940s, but in addition to her work on screen, Withers also appeared on stage, making her debut in late 1944 in the musical comedy Glad To See You. The show was originally intended for Broadway, but closed after seven weeks of tryouts in Philadelphia and Boston.

BroadwayWorld is sad to report that legendary actor Alvin Ing has passed away at 89 years old. 

Mason's 1986 one-man show The World According to Me! garnered a Special Tony Award, an Outer Critics Circle Award, an Ace Award, an Emmy Award, and a Grammy nomination.  Additionally, Mason's 1988 special titled Jackie Mason on Broadway won him another Emmy Award (for outstanding writing) and another Ace Award.

In 1987, he founded the Birmingham Opera Company. Vick's productions with Birmingham Opera included the first UK production of Othello to feature a black tenor in the title role in 2009, and the 2012 world premiere of Karlheinz Stockhausen's Mittwoch aus Licht.

To Broadway fans, Lawrence is known for musical directing the Broadway production of Bye, Bye Birdie, for which he received a Tony nomination for Best Conductor and Musical Director in 1953. He won the Tony Award in that category the next year for How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.

Suzzanne Douglas, known for her starring role in the sitcom The Parent ‘Hood and more, has passed away at the age of 64.

Noted television director and producer John Erman, who directed episodes of many of the great television shows and TV movies and mini-series from the early sixties all the way into the 2000’s, died in New York on June 25th after a brief illness.

Banes was on her way to meet her wife for a dinner party at a friend's home near Lincoln Center when someone on a scooter or motor bike hit her and then fled. Police say that Banes was in the crosswalk and had the right of way.

He has been nominated for an Academy Award, two Emmy Awards, an MTV Movie Award for Best Villain, and a Golden Globe Award. Some of Beatty's most notable films included Deliverance (1972), Network (1976), Friendly Fire (1979), Hear My Song (1991), and Toy Story 3 (2010).

BroadwayWorld is saddened to report that stage and screen actress Olympia Dukakis has died at age 89.

Paul Edward Kellogg came to Cooperstown, New York, in 1975 to write, but stayed to develop one of the premiere summer opera and music-theater festivals in the United States. He leaves as a beloved member of the greater Cooperstown community. Paul Kellogg died in Cooperstown at Bassett Hospital on April 28, 2021, of natural causes. He was 84.
