CWRU CPH MFA Program Offers Immersive Production Of THE SEAGULL

The Case Western Reserve University/Cleveland Play House MFA Acting Program is proud to begin their season with a modern reimagining of Anton Chekhov's The Seagull. Chekhov's classic play about artistic rebellion, translated by Paul Schmidt, will star the MFA Class of 2020 and guests. Director Sarah Wansley's staging will shed light on the show's poetic realism. The Country Music Association visited Houston yesterday, Monday, Sept. 17, with Josh Kerr, Maddie & Tae and Jon Nite, joining the CMA Foundation to meet with students at Waltrip High School followed by a CMA Songwriters Series Presented by U.S. Bank performance at The Heights Theater. Monday afternoon, the songwriters visited Waltrip High School in the Houston Independent School District (HISD), participating in two band classes and a Q&A session, in addition to being treated to special performances by the students in each class. The SPCO's Liquid Music Series Presents Third Coast Percussion

Recent Grammy Award-winners Third Coast Percussion return to Liquid Music with new works by two incredible musical minds: the iconic American composer Philip Glass and the pop polymath Devonte Hynes, a.k.a. Blood Orange. Glass's new work, written for Third Coast Percussion and co-commissioned by Liquid Music, is his first ever for percussion ensemble. Hynes, who has also become a Glass collaborator in recent years, brings his "dense modern pop with roots in hip-hop, R&B and NYC culture" (The Guardian) to an entirely new sound world in his piece for Third Coast Percussion. An Equity casting notice went out last week about an upcoming lab that was to be presented in November. Christ Church Celebrates New Organ With In Plain Air, Marking Culmination Of International Contemporary Ensemble Residency

The Neighborhood House program of Christ Church Preservation Trust, a catalyst for the arts at historic Christ Church, presents five free world premiere performances of In Plain Air, a work in multiple movements by composers Nathan Davis and Phyllis Chen that marks the culmination of the International Contemporary Ensemble's year-long residency in celebration of Christ Church's new C.B. Fisk pipe organ,Opus 150. Performances will take place at Christ Church on Saturday, September 22 at 1pm, 3:30pm, and 6pm and on Sunday, September 23 at 3:30pm and 6pm. Movements employing Christ Church's historic bells, custom instruments, and itinerant musicians will convey audiences across the entire Christ Church campus before introducing them to Opus 150.
