Billboard Debuts Creepy & Creative Stop Motion Animation Video From Chicago Charmers The Claudettes

Today Billboard has exclusively debuted the new music video by Chicago band the Claudettes. Created by noted Brooklyn photographer/artist Kate Stone, the 'Taco Night Material' video was made using stop-motion animation and photographic cut-outs in a diorama-like set. It was entirely made by hand with no digital manipulation, and took about eight hours to animate every 30 seconds of footage.  See the incredibly creative video here. (more...)

BWW Interview: Shane O'Regan on a young soldier's experience of WWI in PRIVATE PEACEFUL

The Irish Times Best Actor nominee Shane O'Regan stars in PRIVATE PEACEFUL, Simon Reade's stage adaptation of the novel by Michael Morpurgo, the celebrated author of WAR HORSE. This story of World War One charts the life of a young soldier, Thomas 'Tommo' Peaceful, who faces the firing squad for cowardice. After critically acclaimed tours across Ireland in 2017 and 2018, the production recently embarked on a tour of the U.S. and is now playing at Chicago's Greenhouse Theater. On Monday, November 12 at 7:30 p.m., days after the release of her new, all-Saariaho album, violinist Jennifer Koh includes the composer's works on a program at Advent Lutheran Church headlined by the first-ever performance of music from The 38th Parallel, Ms. Koh's new collaboration with composer / multimedia artist Jean-Baptiste Barriere. The project, to receive its full premiere at a later date, explores their shared connections to the Koreas-Ms. Koh through her emigre parents, and Mr. Barriere through his grandmother's Korean partner, whom he considered his grandfather. Ms. Koh is joined in the suite by Davone Tines (bass-baritone), Camilla Hoitenga (flute), Aaron Wunsch (piano), and Mr. Barriere (electronics). In addition to the music of Kaija Saariaho and Mr. Barriere, works by J.S. Bach are included on the program. (more...)

Tucker Gala Brings Host of Opera Stars to Carnegie Hall

On Sunday, October 21, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation's annual gala concert - one of the most highly anticipated operatic events of the season - will bring a galaxy of opera stars to the stage of Carnegie Hall. And opera-lovers around the world unable to make it in person will still have the opportunity to watch the performance live. Thanks to the foundation's partnership with medici.tv, the gala concert will be webcast live (6pm ET/3pm PT), free of charge, both on medici.tv and on medici.tv's Facebook page; the stream will subsequently be available for on-demand viewing for a limited period. In addition, the Richard Tucker Music Foundation continues its collaboration with WQXR 105.9 FM, New York's sole dedicated classical radio station, which will broadcast the performance to listeners in the New York metropolitan region and online at www.wqxr.org on November 10 at 1pm ET/10am PT.
