Production began today on 'Convicting A Murderer', a follow-up to Netflix's sensational 2015 documentary series 'Making A Murderer'. Acclaimed documentary filmmaker Shawn Rech (A MURDER IN THE PARK) will direct the 8-episode series. "We're about a third of the way there. To date, we have secured 102 financial donors of our targeted goal of 350 donors we are seeking to support us by June 2018, so we can continue to keep our theater's doors open by presenting quality productions and supporting our local community through education. Chicago High School Students to Compete in August Wilson Monologue Competition

Twenty-one Chicago high school students will once again compete in the finals of the August Wilson Monologue Competition for a chance to represent Chicago in the National Competition at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City. Hundreds of students competed across the city in preliminary rounds. The finals will be held at the Broadway Playhouse, 175 E Chestnut on February 26, 2018 at 6:00pm. The August Wilson Monologue Competition is free and open to the public. Singer Lynn Henderson returns to Don't Tell Mama this spring with A Skitch in Time: My Friendship with Maestro Skitch Henderson, a tribute to the New York Pops founder who built the Pops from an idea to a beloved international institution. The two Hendersons, who are not related, met and bonded over music at a benefit dinner in Connecticut, where they both lived at the time. Skitch assisted Lynn, who was Chairnan of Deck The Halls benefits for New Milford Hospital, by bringing his New York Pops All Stars to Connecticut. He mentored Lynn as she created a show about his friend, Cole Porter, for a local club with a cast ranging in age from five to eighty five. Later, Lynn and her musicians brought her cabaret shows to Hunt Hill Farm - the cooking school, store and gallery which were the Connecticut home of Skitch and his smart, dazzling wife, Ruth. A Skitch in Time: My Friendship with Maestro Skitch Henderson is directed by Klea Blackhurst, with Musical Direction by Douglas J. Cohen. Bob Sabin will play bass.  (more...)

Visceral Dance Chicago will continue its season with a presentation of  SPRINGFIVE on April 7, 2018 at the Harris Theater for Music and Dance in Millennium Park, the second mainstage Chicago performance of the company's fifth year. It will include Artistic Director, Nick Pupillo's two original works; Impetere (2013), which introduced the company's strong technique and athleticism and Senza Di Te (2013), a romantic pas des deux revived this time with live music by cellist, Desire Miller.  The first half of the program will end with a signature piece, Changes (2014), Monica Cervantes named by Dance Magazine as one of "25 to Watch" for 2013.  Changes is an exploration of fast paced relationships in our modern day. New York Premiere Of BABETTE'S FEAST Will Begin An Open-Ended Off-Broadway Engagement

???????Based on the short story by Isak Dinesen (and made famous by the 1987 Academy Award-winning film), Babette's Feast will begin performances Wednesday March 14th at the Theatre at Saint Clement's (423 West 46th Street, between Ninth & Tenth Avenues) for an open-ended Off-Broadway engagement.  Opening Night is set for Sunday March 25th (5pm).  The performance runs 90 minutes with no intermission. Hi, everyone! I hope you all are doing well so far this season. It is officially the end of Theatre Week here in Chicago. This 10 day period provides a big amount of discounts and opportunity for everyone to see several shows in the city. That being said, an issue that has been quite a huge part of my education and experience this current school year that I would love to see discussed more is accessibility services in theatre.
