Joe Mantegna is an American actor, producer, writer, and director. Born in Chicago in 1947, Mantegna began his acting career in the theater before transitioning to film and television. He is best known for his roles in the movies "The Godfather Part III," "Searching for Bobby Fischer," and "The Simpsons," as well as his work on the CBS crime drama "Criminal Minds."
Mantegna's early acting work was primarily in the theater. He performed in productions at the Organic Theater Company and the Wisdom Bridge Theatre in Chicago, and he also worked with the Steppenwolf Theatre Company. In 1984, he won a Tony Award for his performance in David Mamet's play "Glengarry Glen Ross."
Mantegna's film career began in the early 1980s, with roles in movies like "The Money Pit" and "Compromising Positions." In 1990, he played Joey Zasa in "The Godfather Part III," a role that earned him critical acclaim. He went on to appear in a number of other films, including "Searching for Bobby Fischer," "Airheads," and "Up Close & Personal."
