Gabriel Vick

BIO

Gabriel Vick is a highly skilled impressionist and is extremely versatile with characters and accents. He is best known for his starring roles in a number of hugely successful West End shows.

He's currently starring in the lead role of Daniel Hillard/Mrs Doubtfire in the hit West End musical production of ‘Mrs Doubtfire’ at the Shaftesbury Theatre.

In 2022 he played the pub landlord in the Netflix film ‘Christmas on Mistletoe Farm’, which starred Celia Imrie and Ashley Jensen. He also had a major role in ‘Nativity Rocks!’, the 4th film in the franchise, playing Hugo Alexander, the Head of Music at an affluent rival school.

In 2012 he was one of a select few West End actors chosen to appear in the big screen adaptation of ‘Les Miserables’. He played the revolutionary Feuilly, who featured regularly in the film. He also played composer Francisco Berger in the 2013 film ‘The Invisible Woman’, directed by and starring Ralph Fiennes.

He received a WhatsOnStage nomination for his portrayal of Henrik in the 2008 revival of ‘A Little Night Music’, directed by Trevor Nunn at the Menier Chocolate Factory and the Garrick Theatre. The critically acclaimed production also starred Jessie Buckley, Hannah Waddingham and Maureen Lipman.

More recently he starred in the critically-acclaimed and powerful ‘Can I Help You’ at London’s Omnibus Theatre and starred as Richard in the Arcola Theatre and UK Tour of ‘Little Miss Sunshine’, based on the hit film.

Other West End credits include ‘Sunny Afternoon’, which was based on the music of The Kinks, ‘Chariots of Fire', ‘Once’, ‘La Cage Aux Folies’ and 'Cabaret’. He was also part of the original London cast of Avenue Q (Noel Coward Theatre) and Scrooge (London Palladium).

He is also a playwright and composer, co-writing the book, music and lyrics for ‘Miss Atomic Bomb’, which had its world premiere at London's St James Theatre in 2016 and starred Catherine Tate.

He has been a regular session recording artist and can be heard on film soundtracks such as “Interstellar”, “Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part Two” and “How to Train Your Dragon".

Gabriel speaks with a neutral/RP accent as well as a native West Country accent. He is extremely proficient in a general American accent, as heard in Mrs Doubtfire and Avenue Q, and can turn his hand to many other accents on request. His mother was from the North East, meaning his Yorkshire and Newcastle are strong. He's also confident with Liverpool, London and more.

by Caroline Cronin - Jun 23, 2023

Creating a stage musical of Mrs. Doubtfire, a much beloved 90’s film with an even more beloved Robin Williams at its helm, could in theory be disastrous. Happily, my inner child is thrilled to report that Kevin McCollum and Jamie Wilson’s adaptation is not only a sensitive homage to the original, but delivers compelling performances and a modern twist that combine to create a nostalgic, relatable…and hilarious piece of theatre.
