Bruno Mars has sold over 130 million records worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists of all time. He has released seven number-one singles on the Billboard Hot 100 since his career launched in 2010, attaining his first five faster than any male artist since Elvis Presley. As a songwriter, he was included in Music Week and Billboard magazine as one of the best songwriters of 2011 and 2013, respectively. Mars has received several awards and nominations, including 11 Grammy Awards, three Brit Awards, nine American Music Awards, 10 Soul Train Awards and holds three Guinness World Records. He has appeared in Time magazine's list of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2011 and Forbes magazine's lists of '30 under 30' in 2013, and Celebrity 100 in 2014, 2018 and 2019.

Musical Theatre West's brand new presentation of JOSEPH AND THE AMAZING TECHNICOLOR DREAMCOAT marks the fifth time the 74-season-old institution is revisiting this ubiquitous musical, this time starring hunky Broadway alum and America's Got Talent standout Brian Justin Crum. For all intents and purposes, their result is certainly a genuinely entertaining one, propelled mostly by its musically-gifted lead performers, but also its entire ensemble, all of whom act, sing, and move as if they're all having a sassy, gay ol' time. But their smile-inducing antics do require some leeway.

The show, a “nautical musical adventure,” stars a crew of West End performers who take a range of songs and transform them into sea shanties with harmonies that will shiver your timbers. Recently, we had the chance to speak with Jo Parsons, the creator and director of Shantify. We discussed the evolution of the show over the past few years, how songs get turned into sea shanties and what it is like to direct something like Shantify versus Les Misérables!
