Adam Godley

Malcolm Godley began his acting career as a child, appearing in a BBC radio production of My Old Man and making his stage debut in The White Devil at the Old Vic. He later performed at the National Theatre in Watch on the Rhine and Close of Play. Godley gained national recognition for the title role in the BBC adaptation of Moonfleet (1984). In 1986, he joined Alan Ayckbourn's theatre company, appearing in June Moon, The Revengers' Comedies, and Mr A's Amazing Maze Plays. After a season with the Royal Shakespeare Company, he created the role of Cliff in Sam Mendes' production of Cabaret (1993) and went on to appear in productions including Mouth to Mouth, The Front Page, The Rivals, Cleo, Camping, Emmanuelle and Dick, Paul, and The Importance of Being Earnest (1999).

Godley made his Broadway debut in Private Lives (2002), earning a Theatre World Award. He followed with The Pillowman (2003), Rain Man (2008), the Broadway revival of Anything Goes (2011), which earned him Tony, Drama Desk, and Outer Critics Circle Award nominations, From Morning to Midnight (2013), and The Lehman Trilogy at the National Theatre (2019). The Lehman Trilogy transferred to Broadway in 2021, where he received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actor in a Play.

His film credits include And Now... Ladies and Gentlemen (2002), Love Actually (2003), Around the World in 80 Days (2004), Nanny McPhee (2005), and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2005).

On television, Godley appeared in The Special Relationship (2010), A Young Doctor's Notebook (2011), The Good Wife (2012), Suits (2012), Homeland (2015), The Blacklist (2017), and Succession (2023). He also had recurring roles as Elliott Schwartz in Breaking Bad and Jocelyn Pugh in Lodge 49.
