The thing I love about theatre above nearly all else is the sense of community it provides. When you're working on a production, you are a member of a team, doing your part to make sure the show and all involved succeed. Vaccination is the same principle, applied to all of humanity. In order for us to truly 'open up' and get back to feeling that undeniable magic that theatre provides, we must collectively do the right thing to protect ourselves and an industry that is yearning to bounce back better than ever.

Playwright Donja R. Love has announced the first annual WIO! Prize for playwrights living with HIV. In its inaugural year, the $5,000 award will be funded by Emmy Award-winning actor Billy Porter, known for his roles on the hit TV show Pose and the musical Kinky Boots, and the LGBTQ media nonprofit GLAAD. National Queer Theater, The Lark, Mobilizing Our Brothers Initiative (MOBI), and The Each-Other Project have partnered to coordinate the submission process.

BroadwayWorld had the pleasure of speaking to Camil about building a musical theatre character for the screen, his own passion for the theatre, and Doc Lopez's contentious relationship with his too-amorous parents.

The all-Asian American cast includes Cindy Cheung (13 Reasons Why), Karl Josef Co (Pacific Overtures), Ali Ewoldt (The Phantom of the Opera), Diane Phelan (School of Rock), and Thom Sesma (Sweeney Todd). Steven Cuevas (Once On This Island) serves as music director.

On Venus, Upper Wilds traverses the havoc, mystery, and joy of humanity's countless follies in both space and love in ten lean cosmic tracks. Friel interlocks allegories, strange true stories and deeply personal sentiments into raucous jolts.

Perfect for 4-7 year olds, these 45-minute family events begin with Simon performing I Love My Bike, followed by some fun (and quite silly) games during which children are supported to 'build' their own bike poem with him. They can spin the word wheel and take part in the pedal power challenge to unlock their creative powers!

Halsey penned the songs for If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power herself. She recorded the career-defining album with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, known for their work in Nine Inch Nails and as Oscar, Golden Globe and GRAMMY®-winning film/television composers.

The show will be performed for live audiences at the Broadwater Black Box and also livestreamed at every performance, offering audiences an option on how to experience this event.

Tony Award Winner and Disney Legend Lea Salonga will make a special appearance as the host of CollaborAzian's production of A Gentleman's Guide to Love and Murder on July 15th, 2021. The abridged version of Robert L. Freedman and Steven Lutvak's musical is directed by Sesame Street's Alan Muraoka and features an all-Asian American cast and production team. The band shares, 'To take the pop production we love so much further into guitar music was definitely something we wanted to incorporate in this song. The whole EP was produced and recorded ourselves and this song definitely gave us a chance to have fun with adding lots of small textures and nuances to the vocals and synths.'

Directed by Charlotte Bennett, Reasons You Should(n't) Love Me opened to critical acclaim at Kiln Theatre in May, and has limited number of tickets available for the remainder of its run until 12 June.
