Stars in the House for Ukraine, an 11+ Hour telethon of the weekly streaming show, raised $139,000 for the International Rescue Committee's humanitarian efforts for those affected by the war in Ukraine. That total is inclusive of a generous matching donation by Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, which matched the first $50,000 worth of donations.

Today we rewind to 2012, when the first revival of Evita opened on Broadway. Starring Elena Roger, Ricky Martin, Michael Cerveris and Rachel Potter, Evita ran at the Marquis Theatre for 337 performances. EVITA tells Eva's passionate and tragic story through Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber's most dazzling and beloved score, including 'Don't Cry for Me Argentina,' 'Another Suitcase in Another Hall' and 'High Flying Adored.'

With Stephen Sondheim celebrating his 90th birthday, this episode of Broadway Rewind is very special for BroadwayWorld's Richard Ridge because it us to the opening night of the Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman tuner Road Show at The Public Theater. It was directed and designed by John Doyle and starred Michael Cerveris and Alexander Gemignani. Cerveris told Ridge about this new version of the material,  'I saw Bounce in Washington so that was my first exposure to the material, but this really isn't a reexamination of that source material, it's an entirely new musical. So, when I saw the new draft that Stephen and John had done, it was really exciting.'

Today we rewind with LoveMusik, a musical which ran on Broadway for just over a month in 2007. LoveMusik is a musical written by Alfred Uhry, using a selection of music by Kurt Weill. The story explores the romance and lives of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya, based on Speak Low (When You Speak Love): The Letters of Kurt Weill and Lotte Lenya. Uhry and Prince worked on LoveMusik for four years to develop it into a stage work. The story spans over 25 years, from the first meeting of Lenya and Weill as struggling young artists, to their popularity in Europe and America, to Weill's death from a heart attack at age 50. The Broadway production ran at the Biltmore Theatre (now the Samuel J. Friedman), starring Michael Cerveris and Donna Murphy.

In honor of Stephen Sondheim's 90th birthday today, we're flashing back to his 80th birthday concert!

It's time to come to the Fun Home! As BroadwayWord previously reported, Academy Award-nominated actor Jake Gyllenhaal will produce an upcoming big screen adaptation of the Tony Award-winning musical Fun Home, where he will also portray Bruce Bechdel. On December 17, 2019, John Cameron Mitchell joined Michael Cerveris, Edward Carter Simon (Big Easy Award nominated Hedwig in New Orleans 2019) and Kimberly Kaye (Big Easy Award winning Yitsak in New Orleans 2019) onstage at Chickie Wah Wah in New Orleans for a very special version of Stephen Trask's 'Origin Of Love' during the Loose Cattle band's annual Christmas hootenanny, A Very Loose Cattle Christmas.
