Chris Martin

Chris Martin is the co-founder, lead singer, pianist, and primary songwriter of Coldplay, which he formed with Jonny Buckland in 1996 while the pair were students at university. After Guy Berryman and Will Champion joined, the band adopted the name Coldplay and achieved international success with its 2000 debut album Parachutes, led by the breakthrough hit "Yellow." Beyond Coldplay, Martin has written and collaborated with a wide range of artists, including Embrace, Jamelia, Nelly Furtado, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Avicii, Dua Lipa, and Band Aid, while also performing tributes to George Michael and Chester Bennington. His philanthropic work includes performances for Hurricane Sandy and Ebola relief efforts, serving as creative director of the Global Citizen Festival since 2015, and supporting numerous charitable causes. Martin has also made cameo appearances in Shaun of the Dead, Extras, and Brüno, participated in the launch of Tidal as a shareholder, and performed at the funeral of Beau Biden in 2015.
