Adrienne Walker

Adrienne Walker is an actor and vocalist working across television and the Broadway stage.

She played Shanti “Showstopper” Page on STARZ’s Power Book IV: Force, a series-regular role she carried through the show’s final two seasons. On Broadway, she spent four years as Nala in Disney’s The Lion King at the Minskoff Theatre, and originated Hattie in Roundabout’s Kiss Me, Kate at Studio 54, performing with the company on the 73rd Annual Tony Awards.

She grew up in Jonesboro, Georgia, singing in church and school choirs. She studied voice at Spelman College and went on to earn her master’s from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Chicago is where the work began in earnest — Greek tragedy at Court Theatre, Sondheim at Porchlight, and a Jeff Award–nominated performance in The Color Purple.

Away from set, she is a devoted reader of science fiction and speculative work — Octavia Butler, Nnedi Okorafor, N. K. Jemisin.

She most recently starred as Miriam in Begin Again, the new musical from Pat Monahan and Train, at The Old Globe.
