Linda Purl brings her newest set list of songs to the Birdland Theater in her show 'The Could Be The Start...'. A blend of classic songs, old and new, with an eye towards fresh beginnings in a reinvigorated time. Backed by the musical trio of Tedd Firth (piano), David Finck (bass), and Ray Marchica (drums).

Carnegie Hall has announced that, due to illness, tenor Juan Diego Flórez must regrettably cancel his recital scheduled for tomorrow—Sunday, January 29 at 2:00 p.m.—in Stern Auditorium / Perelman Stage. This concert will be rescheduled as part of a future Carnegie Hall season.

Birdland Jazz Club and Birdland Theater has announced jazz programming at running January 31 through February 12. Performers appearing at Birdland Jazz Club include Mike Stern Band featuring Dennis Chambers and Randy Brecker, Uptown Jazz Tentet, Bill O'Connell and the Latin Jazz Sextet, Gunhild Carling and Ben Markley Big Band Feat. Ari Hoenig. 

Stage performer, Celeste Mancinelli has an extremely funny and deeply moving true story to tell on Saturday February 11th 7:30pm at St. Paul's Roman Catholic Church.

The Irish Tenors have been the acknowledged Celtic music kings since they burst upon the scene during a 1998 special. With ten best selling CD's to their credit, they share company with the likes of The Three Tenors and Andrea Bocelli as the biggest money makers PBS has presented.

PCPA will present The River Bride, the story of folklore, love, regret and two sister who struggle to be true to each other and their hearts. Inspired by the Brothers Grimm and Brazilian folklore, The River Bride takes us to a lyrical 'once upon a time' along the Amazon River. The production will play February 16th through March 5th, 2023 in the Severson Theatre.

You Are Not Alone: An Uplifting Show About Depression, will continue its over 8-year run at the Magnet Theater. The mental health-themed comedy show unites improvisers and artists that battle mental illness in their day-to-day lives. Improvisers create scenes inspired by stand-up, poetry, and stories written about personal experiences, showing that sometimes laughter really is the best medicine.

Next to Normal is a 2008 Rock Musical written by Brian Yorkey and Tom Kitt. The plot tells the story of a mother (Diana) who struggles with progressive Bipolar Disorder and how managing the disease and its effects take a toll on her family. The award-winning musical covers such topics as depression, grief, suicide, drug abuse, and ethics of modern psychiatry all set against the backdrop of a suburban lifestyle.

Los Angeles Philharmonic's Principal Clarinet Boris Allakhverdyan and Associate Principal Cello Ben Hong will join internationally acclaimed, multi-award-winning 20-year-old pianist and composer Talon Smith for a very special performance of Brahms' Trio Op. 114.  Talon Smith will also perform his newly published composition “24 Preludes” for solo piano.

Indie singer/songwriter and recording artist Mexx Heart is spilling the tea on her own past relationship with her new single 'London' (co-written with Justine Blazer).

A WOMAN OF NO IMPORTANCE is ironically an important work by none other than the esteemed Oscar Wilde. A thinking man’s comedy, Wilde imbues this work with witty banter while challenging society’s norms. The clips along with a steady stream of laughs punctuated by occasions of loud guffaws and eye-popping truths. You will be charmed. You will be delighted. You will be entertained.

What did our critic think of DEAR EVAN HANSEN at Orpheum Theatre?

This production of Leading Ladies is one of the funniest this reviewer has seen. The intimate theatre at Little Theatre of Mechanicsburg puts the audience right in the middle of the action. Anyone who needs a good laugh should get their tickets for Leading Ladies before it’s too late.

Pioneer Theatre Company (PTC), Utah’s premier professional theatre, will present PTC alum Kareem Fahmy’s A Distinct Society. The production, a world premiere in association with TheatreWorks Silicon Valley, runs January 27 through February 11. Check out the photos here!

Loft Ensemble in North Hollywood is presenting the world premiere of Katrina by LaDarrion Williams, at Sawyer’s Playhouse (the company’s second stage). The Yale Indigenous Performing Arts Program (YIPAP) is currently accepting submissions for both the 8th Annual Young Native Playwrights Contest (Deadline: March 1), and the 3rd Annual Misty Upham Award for Young Native Actors (Deadline: Feb 28th). Native artists 25 and under are eligible to submit to both awards.  

Mindy Pfeffer’s new play HOW TO LIVE opened on January 25 at the 14th Street Y in the East Village. The World Premiere runs until January 29 and is being presented by LABA (A Laboratory for Jewish Culture), a NYC-based artist fellowship program for which Pfeffer was a part of in 2021. THE NOTEBOOKS  OF LEONARDO DA VINCI at The Old Globe brings a visually sumptuous peek into the mind of a creative genius.  The production is so much more than a play; it is art, movement, dance, math, and philosophy all brought to life on stage.

Hannah Jane was merely 13 years old when she set her sights on the bright lights of New York City. Despite her young age, Jane was no stranger to performing. After all, she had already spent years honing her skills on the stages of various theatres around the Charleston, WV area.

On the VAULT Festival’s website, All Falls Down is described with the keywords “horror,” “improv,” and “interactive.” Unfortunately, while the show was certainly improvised by the sole performer and interactive as it depended on its audience, it failed to bring horror to the VOID.

As someone who loves comedy and went to a Catholic school named after Saint Joseph, I immediately felt drawn to Adam Willis: Joseph. The VAULT Festival’s website stated that “Adam’s hilarious retelling of the Nativity story puts a dimly-lit spotlight on the Bible’s third-best carpenter; Joseph of Nazareth.”
