The Kite Runner is on its way to Broadway! The limited engagement is set to begin previews at The Hayes Theater on July 6; opening night is July 21, and it will run through October 30.   The cast just met the press and BroadwayWorld was on hand for the festivities!

Manhattan Theatre Club held its annual Spring Gala on Monday, May 23 at Cipriani 42nd Street honoring Bobbie Olsen, a former member of Manhattan Theatre Club's Board of Directors. Last night, the WP Theater’s Gala – The Women Of Achievement Awards honored Grammy, Emmy, and Tony Award nominee Vanessa Williams, award-winning director Schele Williams, and Tony Award-winning producer Mara Isaacs.

Leading the pack was A Strange Loop with eleven nominations, followed closely by MJ and Paradise Square, with ten nominations each.

Last night, Classic Stage Company held a one-night-only concert performance of Stephen Sondheim and John Weidman's Assassins on Broadway to benefit CSC. Featuring the complete cast of CSC's hit 2021 production, the performance of Assassins took place on Monday, May 9 at 7pm at The Stephen Sondheim Theatre.

This past weekend, Tracie Bennett, Erin Davie, Antwayn Hopper, Michael R. Jackson, John Earl Jelks, Tavon Olds-Sample, Andy Nyman, Soara-Joye Ross, Jessie Shelton, Matthew Sklar, Antoine L. Smith, original cast members Pamela Myers and Teri Ralston, and more were on hand to celebrate the exclusive screening of “Keeping Company with Sondheim”, a documentary from Great Performances on PBS. 

The Fred Ebb Foundation in association with the Roundabout Theatre Company presented the seventeenth annual Fred Ebb Award for aspiring musical theatre songwriters to the team of Isabella Dawis & Tidtaya Sinutoke.

Earlier today, the Drama League (Gabriel Stelian-Shanks, Artistic Director; Bevin Ross, Executive Director) announced the 2022 Drama League Awards Nominees for Outstanding Production of a Play, Outstanding Revival of a Play, Outstanding Production of a Musical, Outstanding Revival of a Musical, Outstanding Direction of a Play, Outstanding Direction of a Musical, and the much-coveted Distinguished Performance Award. Honoring achievements on and Off-Broadway, the nominations were announced this morning by Denée Benton and André De Shields at the official announcement event held at the New York Library for the Performing Arts.
