Atlantic Theater Company presents the world premiere production of the new musical The Band's Visit, directed by Lortel and Obie Award winner David Cromer and featuring a book by Drama Desk Award nominee Itamar Moses, an original score by three-time Tony Award nominee David Yazbek, choreography by Patrick McCollum and movement by Lee Sher. The Band's Visit began previews November 11 and opened just last night at Atlantic Theater Company's Linda Gross Theater (336 West 20th Street).

The New York City premiere of MCC Theater's new musical Ride the Cyclone, the third musical in MCC's now-iconic 30-year history of producing new works for the American theater, began previews on November 9, 2016 at the Lucille Lortel Theater and opened just last night November 30.

Just last night, Todrick Hall officially joined the Broadway company of Kinky Boots as 'Lola' in the Tony Award-winning musical, where he remains through March 5, 2017. Hall, an internationally known YouTube personality and Broadway actor who just finished a sold-out national tour of his show Straight Outta Oz, succeeds the Award-winning Alan Mingo, Jr. in Kinky Boots, now in its 4th smash year at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre (302 West 45th Street).

Theatre Communications Group (TCG) just honored playwright and actress Danai Gurira, producers Stephen C. Byrd and Alia Jones-Harvey, and the Vilcek Foundation and Rick Kinsel at their gala, last night at New York's Edison Ballroom (240 West 47th Street).

Due to popular demand, the Signature Theatre production of The Death of the Last Black Man in the Whole Entire World AKA the Negro Book of the Dead, by Pulitzer Prize-winner Suzan-Lori Parks and directed by Lileana Blain-Cruz, has been extended an additional week. The production will now run through December 18, 2016 at The Alice Griffin Jewel Box Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street between 9th and 10th Avenues). 

Just last night, the 33rd Annual Drama League Centennial Musical Celebration of Broadway honored Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce at The Plaza (768 Fifth Avenue) in New York City.

Irish Repertory Theatre presents FINIAN'S RAINBOW, directed and adapted by Charlotte Moore (Da), at Irish Rep Theatre (132 West 22nd Street) on the Francis J. Greenburger Mainstage. Second Stage Theatre's New York Premiere production of NOTES FROM THE FIELD: DOING TIME IN EDUCATION, the latest work created, written and performed by groundbreaking theatre artist Anna Deavere Smith with music composed and performed by Marcus Shelby and directed by Leonard Foglia, opened just last night, November 2, 2016 at the Tony Kiser Theatre (305 West 43rd Street). 

Earlier today, His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan and the Radio City Rockettes welcomed the camels, sheep and donkey back to Radio City Music Hall for their starring role in the "Living Nativity" scene in the 2016 production of the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes.

Vietgone, the new play by Qui Nguyen (She Kills Monsters), directed by May Adrales (Luce) just opened last night at MTC at New York City Center - Stage I (131 West 55th Street).
