The Bodyguard is a musical based on the popular 1992 movie, with the score featuring songs recorded by Whitney Houston including 'I Will Always Love You'. The show tells the story of rock superstar Rachel Marron who hires the titular bodyguard, Frank Farmer, to protect her from a stalker. As Frank works to keep Rachel safe, the two fall in love.

Based on Book IV of the Aeneid, the opera was composed in 1688 and is considered one of the great works of English Baroque. Unprecedented montage has scenic direction by William Pereira and musical direction by Luis Otavio Santos, who commands the Orchestra do Theatro Sao Pedro. The performances take place on the 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th of March.

Based on a short story by Machado de Assis, “A Igreja do Diabo – Um Musical Imoral e Hilário”, premieres on February 27 at Núcleo Experimental, in São Paulo. In the plot, the Devil decides to found his own religion, in which people would be free to practice impiety. However, the human tendency to contradiction leads its followers to do good.

The monologue opens at Teatro Paiol in the “1st Festival of Monologues”. The play narrates a cut in Carmen Miranda’s life, when, already consecrated as one of the main Brazilian personalities in the United States, she returned for a show in Brazil, booed for supposedly having “sold herself to the American government”.

The show, with music by Tom Kitt and Lin-Manuel Miranda, lyrics by Amanda Green and Miranda, loosely based on the 2000 film of the same name, focuses on the competitive world of cheerleading and over-the-top team rivalries.

Lyrical season will have 11 titles, including the premiere of O Machete, by Mehmari. Throughout 2023, will be presented of Il Seraglio, by Mozart, Cinderella, by Viardot, The Cunning Little Vixen, by Janácek, Dido and Eneas, by Purcell, among others. The program also includes ballet shows, symphonic and chamber music concerts.

Based on the 1884 novel A Moreninha, by Manoel de Macedo, and bringing back the romantic atmosphere of the 1950s, to the sound of the oldies goldies immortalized by Celly Campello, Túnel do Amor (Tunnel of Love) opens at Teatro Liberdade, with 20 actors on stage.
