BIO
Matthew Broderick’s early stage career began in an HB Studio workshop production of On Valentine's Day. He then appeared off-Broadway in Torch Song Trilogy, followed by performances in Neil Simon’s Eugene Trilogy, including Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues. He won the Tony Award for Best Featured Actor in a Play for his role in *Brighton Beach Memoirs*. He later starred in the musical How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying.
Broderick’s film career began with Max Dugan Returns (1983). He followed with leading roles in WarGames (1983), Ladyhawke (1985), and Ferris Bueller's Day Off (1986). He appeared in Project X (1987) and reprised his role from stage in the film adaptation of Torch Song Trilogy (1988). He starred in Glory (1989), The Freshman (1990), and voiced adult Simba in The Lion King (1994). He also provided voice work for Arabian Knight (1995), appeared in The Cable Guy (1996), Godzilla (1998), and Inspector Gadget (1999).
In the 2000s, Broderick appeared in You Can Count on Me (2000), Good Boy! (2003), The Stepford Wives (2004), Deck the Halls (2006), Bee Movie (2007), and The Tale of Despereaux (2008). He later starred in Tower Heist (2011), Daybreak (2018), No Hard Feelings (2023), and appeared in Only Murders in the Building (2023).
On Broadway, Broderick starred in The Producers (2001) and its 2005 film adaptation The Producers. He appeared in The Foreigner (2004), The Odd Couple (2005), The Philanthropist (2009), Nice Work If You Can Get It (2012), Sylvia (2015), The Starry Messenger (2019), and Plaza Suite (2022–2024). He most recently starred in Tartuffe off-Broadway (2025).
