Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati closes out its 2013-2014 main stage season with the world premiere of Size Matters, a one-man show about every man's weight, written and performed by Raymond McAnally. Co-directed by Ed Stern and D. Lynn Meyers, Size Matters plays May 7-25, 2014. Raymond McAnally won over audiences and critics alike in last season's sold-out smash hit Mrs. Mannerly, when he hilariously took on more than a dozen characters from a cutthroat 1960s etiquette class. Now, Mr. McAnally returns to Ensemble Theatre Cincinnati, having penned his own autobiographical one-man show where he will once again shift from himself to a myriad of other characters throughout the performance. The "Alley Theatre @ UH" season begins with Elizabeth Ashley and Hallie Foote in the southwestern premiere of Horton Foote's wonderfully entertaining The Old Friends, directed byMichael Wilson. Alley Resident Actors Jay Sullivan, James Black, and Jeffrey Bean, and returning artist Jeremy Webb lead the cast of Dracula, the Original Vampire Play, a production that will include the iconic designs by Edward Gorey, directed by Artistic Director Gregory Boyd. Boyd also directsShakespeare's romantic comedy As You Like It featuring Alley Resident Actors Elizabeth Bunch, Chris Hutchison and Todd Waite. Resident Actor James Black and Josie de Guzman lead the cast in Arthur Miller's All My Sons, directed by renowned playwright Theresa Rebeck. Kansas City Repertory Theatre Artistic Director Eric Rosen today announced changes to its artistic staff for its 50th Anniversary Season. Associate Artistic Director Kyle Hatley, who is planning to return to Chicago over the coming year, will become Resident Director. As previously announced, his duties will include performing in An Iliad and developing and directing the world premiere of Nathan Jackson's Sticky Traps; in addition, he will support the annual production of A Christmas Carol, now directed by Jerry Genochio. Sound Theatre Company completes its eighth season with the Seattle professional premiere of Blood Relations by Sharon Pollock, in partnership with GianT Projects. Blood Relations is a tense thriller based on the historical facts and speculation surrounding Lizzie Borden, who was charged with the 1892 murders of her father and stepmother. Tonight, April 24 at 7:30 PM, Cumberland County Playhouse will present a special performance of The Diary of Anne Frank that will be interpreted for the deaf and hearing impaired. The American Sign Language interpreters for the event will be Crosville residents Bob and Kathy Tolich who, between the two of them, share thirty years' experience signing and interpreting in law enforcement, church, concert and community settings. The couple moved to Crossville in 2013, and have been active in reaching the deaf community in Crossville and the surrounding areas ever since. (more...)
