Brian Nash BIO

BRIAN NASH was born at a very young age in the suburbs of Chicago. After several years lazily doing very little, he began singing soon after he could talk, generally annoying those around him.

After spending several years with the Barrington Children’s Choir, training the Debbie Gibson-isms out of his voice, Brian auditioned for and was accepted to the American Boychoir. The following two years were spent performing around the world (Taiwan, Czechoslovakia, Poland, Canada), in the U.S. (Carnegie, Lincoln Center, West Virgina), and recording (one of Amy Grant’s Christmas albums).

Upon returning home, Brian attended a Catholic high school for two years before escaping to become a Vocal Performance major at Interlochen Arts Academy. His time amongst the Catholics gave rise to his first opportunity to music direct a show when he and his best friend Tiffanie produced and staged a production of Jesus Christ Superstar. That following summer, Brian orchestrated his first show when he discovered that the benefit concert of the Music of Andrew Lloyd Webber he had been hired to conduct was being done without any performance rights having been paid, and no orchestrations rented. Oops.

While at Interlochen, a friend played him the first CD of a new singer-songwriter by the name of Tori Amos, and Brian decided that it was time to begin to teach himself the piano. Several odd performances followed.

Upon graduation from Interlochen, Brian moved to the East Coast to attend the Boston Conservatory, where he would be majoring in Opera Performance. While performing and studying at BoCo, Brian continued to find work music directing shows and acting, and began his first forays into the world of piano bars.

It was also during his time in Boston that he reconnected with an old friend from Chicago, and spent the next 5 years playing in Justin Tranter’s first band. The band moved to NYC not long after the release of Justin’s first record (co-produced by Brian after some time spent studying production and engineering at Berklee), and quickly gained a following.

Meanwhile, Brian was soon hired by the Duplex for their Sunday evenings, and earned his own following with his incredibly random repertoire. Other nights at the Duplex and other clubs followed, and Brian began working on shows in New York including works by Lance Horne and Brian Lowdermilk.

In addition, Brian was hired to perform on the inaugural cruise for Rosie and Kelli O’Donnell and Gregg Kaminsky’s R Family Vacations, a GLTB family vacation company. Though the band broke up, Brian found other things to do, including producing the award-winning Silence! The Musical, and Bare off-Broadway and producing albums for Natalie Douglas, Kate Pazakis, Stacy Allyn Baker, and Shanna Sharp. In the theatre world, Brian has music directed the pre-Broadway tryout of Beaches, Classic Stage Company's Mother Courage and Her Children with music by Duncan Shiek, The Last 5 Years (Actor's Theatre of Louisville, Asolo Rep), and heaps of other things. In concert, he's music directed for Deborah Cox, Andy Bell of Erasure, Tiffany, Mandy Gonzales, Molly Pope, Laura Benanti, Lena Hall, and way too many others to mention. He's the resident music director for Atlantis Events, and as been traveling with them since 2009. Brian continues to perform all over the world, and has done some other lovely things, but is kinda done talking about himself in the third person.
