As you know, February is Black History Month. We here at Broadway Sessions wanted to take a moment to reflect on the massive impact of African American legacy on Broadway and beyond. We rallied an incredible roster of some of Broadway's most fantastic voices to speak and sing on the subject. The result was moving and hilarious and powerful and poignant. And the singing? Well, let's just say y'all aren't ready for this!

BROADWAY SESSIONS is described as an evening of musical performances, games and open mic featuring a new Broadway guest each week. The show is created and hosted by Ben Cameron (Bway Wicked, Aida and Footloose) and features musical director Joshua Stephen Kartes on piano. This Thursday night, February 22nd, Broadway Sessions welcomes cast members from the new Off Broadway production of Jersey Boys and more.

We find all kinds of families when working in the theatre. Each new cast is a family. Well, it was my pleasure to welcome some of my very own family, my WAMFAM, to Broadway Sessions recently. Of course, I mean performers from the roster at Whole Artist Management- where I'm not just a spokesperson, I'm a client. Bikini Bottom came to The Laurie Beechman Theatre recently as we welcomed the colorful cast of Spongebob Squarepants for our 2018 season kick off. Few new musicals have been quite so critically well received as The Band's Visit. It was with the same enthusiasm and love that we recently welcomed the cast of The Band's Visit to Broadway Sessions. Hi friends! This week we find ourselves smack dab in the middle of the holiday season. A time for giving, caring and gathering with family and friends. And there's nothing quite as magical as the wonder and awe of kids during this festive time. We recent;y gathered some insanely talented Broadway youngsters to belt it out for us at Sessions. We wrangled up Matilda's Talia Ryder, South Pacific vet Lala as well as 3 talented gents who currently star in the great big show at the great big hall over on 6th avenue- Robert Montano, Hunter Kovacs and Will Ehren. Ok ok, we also let some fabulous adults take the mic including Side Show's Josh Walker, Anthony Fett, Colleen Harris, Kate Corsaro and more open mic dazzlers. Enjoy highlights here!

A dream is a wish your heart makes. I dreamed a dream in time gone by. To dream the impossible dream . well anyway, you get it. Broadway loves to dream. And nobody facilitates those dreams quite like the Broadway Dreams Foundation. We welcomed the Broadway Dreams Foundation to Sessions recently to celebrate on the week of their annual NYC showcase. Join us were BDF faculty members Quentin Earl Darrington, Christopher Hanke, MiMi Scardulla, Todd Buonopane, Noah Ricketts, Galen Williams and more. Beyond that, we were thrilled to welcome international BDF students from Russia, Brazil and Sweden who brought the house all the way down. Showtunes in foreign languages! It's always special night when we open the microphone up to the multitude of amazing voices out there. Many of which you may not of heard of yet. Operative word here is YET! Recently Broadway Sessions welcomed the cast of the hilarious new musical web series WISCO QUEENS. Our audience enjoyed sneak peeks of the series on the big screen as well as performances from the talented cast. Enjoy performances by Drew Seeley, Jenna Leigh Green, Katie Goffman, Rose Pedone, Tim Ewing, De'lon Grant and more. The Halloween season comes with a lot of tricks and treats. Well, we got the ultimate treat on October 26th, just days before Wicked's 14th anniversary (aka Wicked Day), as well celebrated our 3rd annual ELPHA-BALL! A coven of actresses who have defied gravity in Wicked as Elphaba joined to hare witchy songs and stories from their time in Oz. Mamie Parris (Graizabella in Cats), Caroline Bowman, Laurel Harris (Beautiful), Julie Reiber (Come From Away) and Carla Stickler blew the roof of The Beechman. We also enjoyed performances by our Rising Star Nicole Vande Zande. Enjoy highlights from this epic night here.

It was a New Works Palooza' recently at Broadway Sessions as we welcomed some of NYC's most celebrated writers and composers to share their latest and greatest with us! Well the latest and greatest music deserves some of the greatest voices and we got just that! Writers Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde, Bat Boy, Heathers), Rob Rokicki (The Lightning Thief: The Percy Jackson Musical, Monster Songs), Nat Zagree, Carner and Gregor, Drew Gasparini, Thomson and Desmon, Nate Bertone and Melissa Modifier, Alexander Sage Oyen and Joe Iconis all presented amazing new music interpreted by vocalists Luca Padovan ( School of Rock), Allie Trimm (13), Emily Schultheis (Wicked), Imari Hardon (Avenue Q), Kate Loprest (Wicked), Janinie DiVIta (If/Then), Marissa Rosen (DIVA) and more. Enjoy these hot new tunes, cause you never know what's gonna be the next big song on Broadway or in your audition book!

If anything it true about Broadway Sessions, it's that we are all about the people and belting we're all about the people and belting. And no other night of the month brings those two things together quite like our ALL OPEN MIC party. We closed out September with one of our most epic evenings of song yet! Swings are the super heroes of Broadway, plain and simple. This last week at Sessions, we put the spotlight on these magical unicorns of Broadway. Albano, Aladdin's Lauryn Ciardullo, Beautiful and Motown's Nicholas Ryan, Miss Saigon's Viveca Chow, Avenue Q's Jed Resnick and Imari Hardon, Anastasia's Kathryn Boswell and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory's Michael Williams.
