Crafted from wood, Gatot Indrajati's animated characters and arrangements draw upon long-established motifs in the artist's works, often informed by his observations of everyday life.

Illiterate, he saw the writings as images, responded to their graphical form and inadvertently attained mastery in the ultimate martial arts technique that eluded his lettered counterparts and predecessors.
