On Monday, February 18th (Presidents' Day) you'll find Richard Jay-Alexander at Midtown's Urban Entertainment Hall, The Greenroom 42, as Co-Producer and Director of HONEY BEAVERS: IT'S 9:30 PM. Having seen the musical HAMILTON when it was in Los Angeles, like many others I learned more important details about the founding fathers while watching it than I felt I had ever learned in school. Lin-Manuel Miranda who created that uber-successful musical in 2015, has said that 1776 THE MUSICAL, written in 1969, during another time of political and social unrest in the United States, has 'one of the best books-if not the best-ever written for musical theatre.' And now I can say I certainly agree with him. In fact, The perfect way to prove the arts can teach valuable history lessons to its audiences is by encouraging everyone to see 1776 THE MUSICAL, presented by La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts and McCoy Rigby Entertainment with musical direction by Jeff Rizzo and impeccably directed & staged by Glenn Casale through Sunday, February 3, 2019 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts or at The Soraya at CSUN from Friday, February 8 through Sunday, February 10.

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS & McCOY RIGBY ENTERTAINMENT (celebrating its 25th Silver Anniversary at the theatre) are thrilled to present the award-winning and revolutionary 1776 THE MUSICAL, with musical direction by Jeff Rizzo and directed & staged by Glenn Casale. 1776 THE MUSICAL will preview on Friday, January 11, 2019 (with a press opening on Saturday, January 12 at 8pm) and runs through Sunday, February 3, 2019 at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts, 14900 La Mirada Blvd in La Mirada.  

The two have written THE BIG BANG, a twelve hour presentation of the history of the world and need $83 billion to produce the show. So they hold an investors' audition in a Manhattan proctologist's luxurious apartment, playing all the roles themselves.

The 68th Broadway At Music Circus season begins June 12 with the beloved musical comedy Singin' in the Rain. Based on the film starring Gene Kelly as a dashing leading man in Hollywood's golden age, widely considered 'The Greatest Movie Musical of All Time,' the show features glorious dance sequences, riotous comedy routines and unforgettable songs. Performances of Singin'in the Rain are Tuesday, June 12 through Sunday, June 17 at the Wells Fargo Pavilion.

CRE Outreach is pleased to announce the World Premiere dance production of EMOTIONS by the newly formed Blind Dance Company, in which all performers are sightless, on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 7:00pm at The Lazarus Experience, located at 224 E. 11th Street Loft 501, in downtown Los Angeles, CA 90015. Featured dancers include Natalie Gross, Kenny Lee, Ronald Chism, Sylvia Taylor, Barbara Ford, Christina Johnson, and William Andrus, who, guided by professional dancer and choreographer, Hydeia Muhammad, perform for the first time as the Blind Dance Company. During the performance, you will experience various emotions through these talented, all-blind dancers, with many genres of dance represented including Hip-Hop, Ballroom, Contemporary and much more! Each number will introduce a different form of emotion while incorporating the beauty of fulfillment and the ability to overcome obstacles through dance.

The Theatre Group at SBCC opens the 17/18 season with Cole Porter's sparkling musical, HIGH SOCIETY, July 12-29 in the Garvin Theatre.

A FUNNY THING HAPPENED ON THE WAY TO THE FORUM makes its Civic Arts Plaza debut. All men are schmucks who struggle with their daily existence. REAL MEN: The Musical follows that existence down Manhood Lane to gain some clarity, or at the very least, explore the common bond that all men are morons just trying to get by. REAL MEN is a 90-minute romp that delves into fatherhood, mid-life crisis, dating, marriage, potency, and sexuality.

Over 300 guests attended The Old Globe's 2015 Gala, "Club 3515," celebrating the Globe's 80th Anniversary, on July 25 on the Globe's historic campus in Balboa Park. This new, adult musical comedy about men is a madcap and hilarious romp through all the many stages of manhood, featuring 29 original songs all paying homage to all things male, lampooning such issues as fatherhood, mid-life crisis, dating, marriage, aging, and sex (or the lack of it), giving an inside glimpse of what it takes to be a man in a modern world shared with women, children, and parents.

With the end of winter fast approaching, there comes a very exciting time of year for theatre-makers everywhere. Awards shows are everywhere, Films and Musicals are a constant topic for any story-telling buff. But this time of year is especially special because all of these things inspire otherwise unearthed talent to show its true colors. Young, old and everywhere in between gather to share their love for performance in what can only be considered the greatest and closest community on the planet. So let's see some shows, shall we?

For the first time in the company's history, Ventura's RUBICON THEATRE is transferring a production to the legendary LOBERO THEATRE in Santa Barbara. On the heels of a critically acclaimed, sold-out run at Rubicon's home in Ventura's Downtown Cultural District, the world premiere musical HELLO! MY BABY will play at the Lobero Theatre for three performances only next weekend - May 5 and 6. Described as a 'Tin-Pantastic New Tuner for all ages,' the show is conceived and written by Emmy and Golden Globe Award winner and Tony Nominee Cheri Steinkellner, who is also a longtime Santa Barbara resident.
