Leah Nanako Winkler Earns 2018 Francesca Primus Prize

Leah Nanako Winkler has been awarded the 2018 Francesca Primus Prize for her play Two Mile Hollow. Jointly sponsored by the American Theatre Critics Association (ATCA) and the Francesca Ronnie Primus Foundation, the Primus Prize is given annually to an emerging woman playwright in recognition of a play presented the previous year.

A.C.T. Names Juan Manzo Director of Education & Community Programs

Today, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) Artistic Director Pam MacKinnon and Executive Director Jennifer Bielstein announced the appointment of Juan Manzo as the company's new Director of Education & Community Programs. In partnership with artistic and executive leadership, Juan will construct the vision, oversee the development, and assess the impact of the theater's various education and community programs, including ACTsmart School Programs, Community Engagement, Young Conservatory youth artist training, and the Fellowship Program for emerging theater professionals.

Martinson has been a TheatreWorks mainstay for decades, starting as an usher while she was still in school, then working as an actor before becoming a director and casting director. She left her staff position 18 months ago to go freelance, but has since directed two shows at TheatreWorks so still maintains a close working relationship with the Tony-winning company.
