After six previous sold-out engagements, Bay Area favorite Tom Reardon returns to Feinstein's at the Nikko with his brand new show, Anything But Love: love songs, vol. III on Friday, March 9 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, March 10 (8 p.m.). For his lucky 7th run, Reardon will be singing about that ever-perplexing topic in this third installment of an evening of love songs. Berkeley Playhouse continues their tenth anniversary season of professional theater for family audiences with their largest production of the season, Ragtime. A sweeping musical epic of hopes and dreams in an America facing change at the turn of the 20th century, Ragtime boasts Tony Award-winning score and lyrics by the Broadway powerhouse duo, Stephen Flaherty and Lynne Ahrens (Once on This Island, Anastasia, Suessical) and a book by four-time Tony Award-winner Terrence McNally (The Full Monty, Love! Valour! Compassion!, Master Class), based on the celebrated novel by E. L. Doctorow. Central Works begins its 2018 season of new plays with Bamboozled by award-winning playwright Patricia Milton, opening with a press night on Saturday, Feb 17, and running through March 18 (previews Feb 15 & 16) at the historic Berkeley City Club. Bamboozled was developed by Ms. Milton in the Central Works Writers Workshop, and is inspired by true events. In Central Works 58th world premiere, Abby is a young appraiser touring with the show Antiques Roadtrip. She's a black woman from L.A. traveling in the south Shelby County, Tennessee. When she's accused of defrauding a Daughter of the Confederacy out of a fortune in Civil War heirlooms, Abby finds herself on the hook for a million dollars. Today the Berkeley Rep School of Theatre announced the presentation of its 16th annual Teen One-Acts Festival. The 2018 festival features two plays written by Bay Area high school students: Lucky, written by Lucy Urbano, a junior at Oakland School for the Arts, and Fig and Wasp, written by Eleanor Boes, a sophomore at Marin Academy. The festival will take place on Friday, February 2 and Saturday, February 3, 2018 at 7:30pm at the Berkeley Rep Peet's Theatre. Adult tickets are $15 and youth tickets are $10.
