Performing Arts Worker Relief Fund Distributes $95,000 In Grants To 130 Individuals

Theatre Bay Area (TBA) with two other regional performing arts service organizations have banded together to bring much needed relief to the Bay Area's independent performing arts workers. The shelter-in-place orders declared on March 13 forced the cancellation of live performances at hundreds of arts organizations throughout the region. This effectively put thousands of performers, production and event staff, technicians, and administrators out of work during a time of crisis.

A.C.T. Announces Spring Forward Fundraising Event

In response to the global COVID-19 pandemic, American Conservatory Theater (A.C.T.) announced today that it will host Spring Forward, a one-night-only virtual fundraising event, on Saturday, May 2, 2020 at 6 p.m. Proceeds from the event will support A.C.T.'s diverse and far-reaching artistic, artist-training, and education and community programs, reaching almost 200,000 Bay Areaa?"based recipients each year. In addition, a portion of the proceeds will support Theatre Bay Area's Performing Arts Worker Relief Fund, a resource for Bay Area performing arts workers who are facing a loss of income due to the ongoing COVID-19 crisis.

San Francisco Opera Tad and Dianne Taube General Director Matthew Shilvock announced today that the Company's 2020 Summer Season, scheduled to take place June 7a?"July 3 at the War Memorial Opera House, has been canceled. Ongoing developments in the global effort to prevent the spread of COVID-19, including orders by the City of San Francisco to shelter in place through at least May 3, as well as other state and federal travel restrictions and safety measures, prohibit the Company's ability to prepare, build, rehearse and perform this summer.
Central Works Postpones Production of QUEEN MAIR

Central Works regrets that Queen Mair, the second production of its 30th anniversary season, has been postponed until 2021. The show was originally scheduled to run May 9 - June 7, 2021 at the Berkeley City Club. Central Works is now planning to present it as the second production of its 31st season.

With the craziness of recent weeks in the Bay Area and the world at large, small pieces of normality seem more precious. Pear Theatre is proud to announce its annual Pear Slices short-play showcase, directed by Troy Johnson and Betsy Kruse Craig, re-imagined to be COVID-compliant. Pear Slices 2020, a collection of original, one-act plays from members of the Pear Playwrights Guild, will for the first time ever be presented as a filmed-live video, accessible online beginning May 15.
