The Oregon Shakespeare Festival is Now Accepting Submissions for Green Show 2020 Season

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival announced this week that Green Show performance submissions are now open for its 2020 season. OSF's Green Show is a free, family-friendly, outdoor performance venue that will run from June 5, 2020, to September 26, 2020, featuring various acts Wednesday through Saturday evenings, prior to the nightly plays. Program development goals include a balance of diversity, excellence and representation, with themes of connection to local and regional community, audiences, and current OSF plays.

Portland'5 Centers for the Arts has partnered with KultureCity to make Arlene Schnitzer Concert Hall, Keller Auditorium, Newmark Theatre, Winningstad Theatre, and Brunish Theatre, and all of the programs and events that they host, to be sensory inclusive. This new initiative will promote an accommodating and positive experience for all guests and fans with a sensory issue that visit the Portland'5 venues.

Artistic Director Marissa Wolf makes her Portland Center Stage at The Armory directing debut with Miss Bennet: Christmas at Pemberley, a delightful Jane Austen-inspired comedy from playwrights Lauren Gunderson and Margot Melcon. Portland favorite Lauren Modica (Bedlam's Sense and Sensibility and Twist Your Dickens at The Armory) will star as middle sister Mary Bennet, who takes center stage in this charming and clever sequel to Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice. When the Bennet sisters gather at the home of Lizzy and Darcy for the holidays, an unexpected guest sparks brilliant, bookish Mary's hopes for independence, an intellectual match, and perhaps even romance.

OSF Announces Casting For 2020 Season

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival, which is entering its 85th year, today announced the casts for the 2020 season, featuring some of the most beloved performers from OSF's history alongside newcomers from around the country. OSF is one of the most prominent theatre companies across the nation that have joined the Jubilee, a yearlong nationwide commitment by theatres to feature work generated by those who have traditionally been excluded from or marginalized by the theatre industry. Five Shakespeare plays staged as four productions, alongside two new plays inspired by him, take the Festival's stages in 2020. Two more commissions from OSF's multi-decade commissioning program American Revolutions: the United States History Cycle will also premiere.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival wrapped up its 2019 season October 26-27 with the final performances of Mother Road, How to Catch Creation, As You Like It, La Comedia of Errors, Indecent, Between Two Knees, Hairspray a?" The Broadway Musical, and Cambodian Rock Band. Preparations for the 2020 season and this month's 2020 Member Presale are already underway. The 2020 opening weekend is March 6-March 8; preview performances begin February 28.

On Sunday, December 22, 2019, the new holiday rock opera The Bell Ringer is coming to The Moore Theatre, which is located at 1932 Second Avenue, Seattle, WA 98101. The show features former Trans-Siberian Orchestra members Jody Ashworth and Valerie Vigoda, and delivers a powerful and inspiring experience in the early TSO tradition, combing anthemic rock music with poignant storytelling. Joining them are a number of local music icons, including Roger Fisher (Heart), along with other band members hailing originally from Sweden, Spain, Russia, and Turkey. The Bell Ringer, Seattle-area progressive rock band Symphony North's debut album, relates a story that builds on the ideas of selflessness and self-worth. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Toys for Tots Literacy Program.
