Broadway is officially back with four more musicals triumphantly making their return to the stage last night, September 14. The circle of life continues at the Minskoff Theatre, where the cast of The Lion King took their first bows since March 2020. Broadway has been dark for well over a year, but the circle of life will go on! The Lion King and Aladdin will return to Broadway this fall and both companies will welcome back nearly all of the cast members who were performing when Broadway shut down last March, along with exciting fresh faces, including new actors in the starring roles of Simba in The Lion King and Aladdin and Jasmine in Aladdin.

Hamilton isn't the only Broadway company collaborating on social justice initiatives — Taylor said Disney Theatrical have partnered with Broadway Advocacy Coalition, Black Theatre United, Black Theatre Coalition, to “make sure they’re actually supporting impactful systemic change” and make sure Broadway comes back better than ever.

The indomitable and generous spirit of the theatre community - those onstage, backstage and in the audience - shined brightly as the 29th annual Gypsy of the Year competition celebrated six weeks of fundraising work of 56 Broadway, Off-Broadway and national touring companies for Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS. Gypsy of the Year (#GypsyOfTheYear), which was held December 4 and 5, 2017, raised a record-breaking $5,609,211 for Broadway Cares. Check out highlights from the show below!
