Discovering Broadway is launching of a new annual commissioning initiative.  In addition to its writers' retreats, concerts, and master class programs, the organization will now commission one new musical each year.

Adirondack Theatre Festival has announced its 32nd season, set to showcase a series of new and innovative theatrical productions. The season will kick off in 2026, offering audiences a diverse array of performances that highlight contemporary themes and storytelling.

Only two new musicals are opening on Broadway in the first half of the 2025-2026 season: The Queen of Versailles and Two Strangers (Carry a Cake Across New York). There has been much discourse on the topic of whether rising capitalization costs and the rareness of full recoupment is impacting the number of new musicals being produced on Broadway. 

Two River Theater’s performances of the World Premiere of The Monsters: A Sibling Love Story, written and directed by Ngozi Anyanwu (Good Grief, The Homecoming Queen, The Last of the Love Letters) will present related events.

Beau The Musical just celebrated opening night at its new home at The Distillery at St. Luke’s Theatre.
